The poor results over the last few weeks had nothing to do with Lamela. That's fact. Yet he is blamed.
United game was Bentaleb's fault- he got criticism (too much IMO) and when Lamela played for 20 minutes and did 'OK', people rushed into the Lamela threads to bash him.
The draw against Stoke was largely down to Alderweireld's ridiculous decision to foul someone in the box when they had no chance of doing anything, and then our defence letting Diouf get a free header in our box. Lamela was very poor in that 30 minutes, but again, the result (due to Stoke's 2 goals) were not his fault.
And today, people are somehow blaming him when he wasn't even on the fucking pitch for either of the goals. It's fucking ridiculous. I'm not saying he played well, he didn't, but again, nothing negative results-wise that happened was his fault.
Our poor results over the last season and a bit have largely been down to awful defending. Lamela is not a defender. Anyone who blames him, or rushes down to these threads to criticise him immediately after the game, to make their first post-match comment, is being pathetic and childish. Scapegoating at it's finest- blaming a player for something he had no control over.
imo
Not much at the moment. Doesn't mean he should be scapegoated and blamed for things he can't control. That's what he's not doing, great.
Now tell me what he is contributing?

Like a simple pass?
My opinion of Lamela is based from the minute he wore Spurs shirt to till date.
Now you are wrongly assuming things...
How many passes do the whole eleven misplace today?
It's a simple question.
He always tries hard that certainly isn't an issue with him. From what I saw of today's match Lamela seemed to be one of the few in the team really trying. At times he's a bit sloppy and I recall one occasion in the second half when passing backwards he gifted a great chance to Leicester. In truth I think he's lacking in match sharpness and still not really confident about playing in Premier League. I certainly think that his performance was no worse than a number of our players. Think many of our 'Fans' should get off his back and give him a bit of encouragement and support.
Agree, he is a 7-10m player that we got suckered in to paying £30m for, he is into his 3rd season here now and I see no real signs of improvement, sell sell sell
Simpler question. Do you think he's good?
Didn't someone just post he created 5 chances?
I haven't seen the game I'm just going on what's posted.
He put in some very nice corners but in general play the game completely passed him by.
Have to say I feel very sorry for the lad. He obviously is talented but he just looks completely out of his depth in this league.
There was a moment today when the ball dropped to him in space and he tried to cushion a lay off and he did an air shot and the ball hit his other leg and went straight to a Leicester player.
Then there was a simple 5 yard square ball that inexplicably missed it's target by some considerable distance and Dier had to take a booking to prevent the opposition scoring as a result.
The game just looks so difficult for him. Even the simple things. It's hard to see where any improvement is coming from because he doesn't have speed or strength to fall back on.
I think he gets closed down quickly because he always receives the ball from the most predictable pass ever.
That Chadli sitter today was possible the first through ball we've played since Poch took over.
Predictable football will never get the best out of Lamela. He isn't a Kane type player who grafts his own luck.
His supporters can keep coming up with reasons why he should be given a chance but this is his 3rd season and he still doesn't look a top player. What I have seen of Pritchard he is 100% a better player and he isn't the finished article yet by a long way.
The problem is nobody wants Lamella certainly not at anything near what we paid for him and we know Levy wont take a to big a hit so I'm sure Poch has been told to play him.
And that's another point I do think that Poch is a yes man and doesn't want to rock the boat and is probably one of the reasons we haven't got in the players we need. I'm sure that Van Gael, Mourinio, Pelligrini etc would have told their chairman who he must get in and early.
