@Spurger King - a creative :(

Exits left, heads for nearest wall to punch in impotent rage and frustration.

Not meaning to make a big thing about this but it's kind of insulting to imply that I've made up 4 years of my life (which you repeated with your 'doth protest' comment).

It was strangely on-topic too. I knew her sister, met her Korean dad, and spent time in 'little Korea' in New York so probably gained a much better understanding of Korean mentalities than most posters on this site (although @roosh is probably a good person to speak to as he lives/lived there).

Not wishing to reduce something as complex as the human psyche to broad nationalistic traits, but there was a general shared attitude of positivity, energy, and a strong work ethic - along with a touch of humility. If any of those traits apply to Son (and I believe they do) we'll have a great addition to the squad.

I think Son is a more established player than Lamela was when we signed him. Son has done the business in Germany for the last three seasons so he's not only got proven ability (which Lamela had) but also proven consistency.

Even if Son doesn't score a lot for us I reckon he'll provide plenty of assists.

Agreed, i think he has a better all round game from the limited times i have seen him play. What i do like about his game is his forward movement whenever he gets the ball in space. Just hope the other fuckers in the team can keep up with him.

TBH, I really did just give you an optimistic rating for the connection between a footballer's abilities and your intimate moments, and for the florid usage of language (not that it surprises me in the least that you can use colourful language). Not only that, but I don't even think that the optimistic rating is pregnant with an interpretation that you had invented a girlfriend. And the noble Gentleman...methinks (that I didn't finish because I gave you credit for knowing the quote - you should take that as a small victory :) ) was a throwaway, good humoured, suggestion that while it was not actually implied in the original rating (even though you interpreted it that way), but that folk may actually start to think it if you labour the point. It certainly wasn't a reiteration of something that wasn't there in the first place.

Think you are over thinking it, a bit. Even so, jokes about Mum's friendship cheques not clearing, etc., and including claims that girlfriends are imaginary, are rather commonplace and not really malicious. Not, just to repeat, that that is what I was intending when I gave you an optimistic rating.

well, he got a lot of mileage out of "unbelievable" there, so clearly he's ready for the post match interviews already.... :p

but seriously, I hope he can settle on and off the pitch. never seen him play a match before, but it appears in the little youtube bits he tends to play (score) from that AM position playing behind the striker... :cautious:

Kane scored and excelled in the "hole" behind the striker, so I thought Spurs were looking for a player who could play up top to allow Kane to play in his natural, favoured, more successful position... guess not?

I hope "Sonny" fits right in and is a success at Spurs. But, 22 mil is a lot to pay for a player who no one seems to know and hasn't scored that much as a striker... 1 goal every 3ish games over his career and consistent there at every level played. hard to get too excited about him yet for me,.... but I WANT to be :singing:

No one seems to know .....he's played in the Champions league for the last 2 seasons and quite a few big clubs were interested in him when he was leaving Hamburg, on another point he is not a striker !

Without wishing to cause any concern my understanding is that the new work permit rules restrict the non EC players eligible to players representing countries in the FIFA top 50 . Aren't South Korea outside that top 50 ( Cameroon are inside it ) ? Hope that won't be an issue ..... Maybe someone already covered this earlier in the thread ?

There's an "exceptions panel" and I'm sure Son's performances in Germany can be considered exceptional, so don't imagine it will be an issue.

He's got great potential. Really great potential. Don't let his low goal scoring tally fool you, he's the sort of player that has the potential to 'figure' it out one of these days and be a real star. One thing that's gonna help him is playing with Kane. As we know Kane has a solid hold up game which pulls defenders out of position, he's the sort of player to take advantage of those gaps. One of the things about him that I really like is that like Tevez, Rooney, Sanchez and Suarez he always leaves it all out there on the pitch. About damn time we signed a player that's going to take responsibility and not look to others to get something done.
