He's got great potential. Really great potential. Don't let his low goal scoring tally fool you, he's the sort of player that has the potential to 'figure' it out one of these days and be a real star. One thing that's gonna help him is playing with Kane. As we know Kane has a solid hold up game which pulls defenders out of position, he's the sort of player to take advantage of those gaps. One of the things about him that I really like is that like Tevez, Rooney, Sanchez and Suarez he always leaves it all out there on the pitch. About damn time we signed a player that's going to take responsibility and not look to others to get something done.

His goal-scoring tally is not that low. Scored 17 in 42 games mainly from out wide last season. One of only four players to hit double figures in the last three seasons in Germany.

Completely agree with your Tevez comparison. He's a dedicated player that won't let his head drop. In my opinion this is a massive signing for us, and one that has gone under the radar as far as fan reaction is concerned.

Anyone who plays like Tevez is going to be appreciated in my books. Kane shows a lot of willingness to close down players and gets stuck in. We need more of that. I think it will rub off on others and I for one am very excited to see this player!!

Can see why DL interested in Swansea bloke now !

if anything our profile in Korea has certainly grown with Son's acquisition. The major newspapers are monitoring his activity , and thats even before he's started a game for us!

I am confident LG / Samsung Sports will be a sponsor in some capacity with us next season

We need more players who not only are quality, but also have that hard working mentality that can be infectious to the others.

I am really looking forward to seeing this fella play, good as Demeble has been we need a proper option on that right side.

For a player of his ability its quite low. In the bundesliga, the most he's scored in a season is 12 goals and normally hovers around 10 goals per season. The problem he has is finishing. Its that simple. Can't remember the game specifically but it was at the world cup. He absolutely rag dolled the opposition defence single handedly, running a one man mission since he's the only one at south korea that can play the sport. However he didn't score in the game and missed all the openings he created. He's been like that for a few years now.

Given his age and potential he's definitely a massive signing for us. Double footed, can dribble, is fast and can strike the ball well(which tells you his finishing isn't beyond repair I.e rooney). This is the first signing I've been really excited by since Eriksen.

Apologies if this has been answered before, but what's the consensus on how much we've forked out here?

It seems that he plays as a second striker in Hamburg, then move to play in the wing when in Bayer04
He is be able to play as a centre forward (some people seems to think that he can only play RW or LW), but I am not sure whether he can play as a sole striker in 4-2-3-1

Depends on who plays as the CAM/AM. If its Lamela/Njie/Chadli/ and they rotate/switch positions, i think it could work.

well, he got a lot of mileage out of "unbelievable" there, so clearly he's ready for the post match interviews already.... :p

but seriously, I hope he can settle on and off the pitch. never seen him play a match before, but it appears in the little youtube bits he tends to play (score) from that AM position playing behind the striker... :cautious:

Kane scored and excelled in the "hole" behind the striker, so I thought Spurs were looking for a player who could play up top to allow Kane to play in his natural, favoured, more successful position... guess not?

I hope "Sonny" fits right in and is a success at Spurs. But, 22 mil is a lot to pay for a player who no one seems to know and hasn't scored that much as a striker... 1 goal every 3ish games over his career and consistent there at every level played. hard to get too excited about him yet for me,.... but I WANT to be :singing:

I've not seen loads of him but I've seen enough to know he's a true Spurs player. I've lost count of how many times I've seen people say we're boring, well Son is a player who will score wonder goals and get people off their seats. I don't care if he doesn't score 20 a season, I just want to be entertained and he will do that at the minimum, wherever he plays.

I'm as disappointed with the lack of CF and DM options as anyone, but it shouldn't overshadow a really exciting signing we've made here. There are no guarantees ever, but unlike a lot of our recent foreign acquisitions, Son really does have all the ingredients to succeed here. He's got that rare blend of talent, pace and insane workrate and enthusiasm that is only going to benefit the team, even when he isn't banging the goals in. Can't wait to get him in the team, personally think he could be the most important signing we've made since Lloris.

My biggest worry is Kane is under even more pressure now to score. It's a lot to ask of a young man like him, who's clearly already trying to live up to his hype which was completely OTT. There's no doubt he's a great player, but it's done him little good.

He's just one of those signings where you think he could suit us down to the ground.

I had similar feelings when we signed Vertonghen and Eriksen.
