Re BEN's ITK, there's also the Levy factor.
For the Shiny Headed One to retain his reputation as an ace poker player and, ahem, "different" (copyright Fergie), he has to show he can't be bossed around.
Frankly, if Levy wants to demonstrate he wasn't bluffing with his bids for Berahino, and that he did consider them fair value, then signing Son and walking away from Berahino will be useful evidence for the next couple of dozen transfer negotiations.
If WBA want £25m mostly in cash, mostly now, and with very little based on performance clauses, then that isn't a good deal. We could use that amount of cash to get a better player.
Alternately, if WBA really need to sell, and we've agreed terms with SB's agent, then if the price drops closer to £15m up front plus clauses, this deal could happen very quickly. And Levy's "master negotiator" reputation would be boosted.
I note BEN's ITK suggests that he himself thinks he may be being played......
If only there was another striker in the world besides berahino........
We have to take this info with the usual salt and see what happens by the deadline
