It's injuries and amount of games that scare me. Kane can't play every game, nor can Dier. We have a very young midfield - team - and I really think we may have missed a trick with Cabaye.

Hopefully the new wide guys will take some of the pressure off of Kane, also creating more space for him. If he gets crocked tho, we are shockingly short, would they then bring Ade back in to the fold?

I understand getting rid of non performers, but only if you have replacements in the bag. Soldado and Stambouli would make our squad look a lot stronger at the moment than no-one. It's puzzling.

I don't think anyone should be getting wrapped up in a knot about Berahino because he sounds like trouble and he's certainly not a number 9. He's more a fox-in-the-box from the little I've watched him, and I don't think we're set up to play with one of those (as ruining Soldado showed). I'm more bothered about not getting a back-up number 9 (Austin maybe) and not getting shot of Lamela.

If we have a goal-scoring problem in the weeks ahead, or an injury to Kane, then we won't be able to fall back on a bad luck excuse. That's a pretty big risk we've taken. But we might get away with it.

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/first-team-profiles/ seriously, Ade is listed there now... You couldn't make this up! :hungover:

If it wasn't there already then it will be because we have to name him in our EPL 25 man squad. Even if we don't want to play him there is space for him as U21s don't get included in the squad and you have to name all players that are eligible for the squad.

The only way he wouldn't be included would be if we already had 17 foreign players in the squad.

I can be so passive about it, because I went to the Lane on Saturday and I enjoyed it. I stood up, I sang and I yelled at the ref. I supported Spurs. I saw a defensive partnership in its embryo stage. I saw Eric Dier running a midfield like he's been doing it for as long as Pirlo has. I saw Alli running with enthusiasm. THOSE are the things that matter. Add to that some pace in attack and a fit Christian Eriksen and I am happy. What we saw last year were issues with the defence. We have strengthened there. That was the priority.

Do you think Poch may have said that too? Daniel, I'm OK up top, if the right striker comes along we'll have him, otherwise I need defenders and I want TA and a new right back to get Walker playing a bit better.

I have a plan for Dier (and we have Mason and Bentaleb who played there all of last season) but if you can get a DM, then get one. But please let's sort the defence.

"We're a team in decline". Yeah right. Sorry, but it's that sort of bollocks I can't entertain. We have new signings yet to start for us. We've shipped out a load of the bad eggs and the players that weren't going to feature. Hell, we've taken, on an asset-by-asset basis a heavy hit on a lot of them.

So, potentially missing out on a striker that may or may not have improved us vs. what you're saying. Who's being the more dramatic?
This = winner...

Berba would not be a bad move IMO, he led the line for Monaco brilliantly and scored at the Emirates and seemed to be a good influence on young Martial. He would be a good mentor to Harry and I'm sure Harry would benefit from watching and playing with him as well as the other youngsters such as Ali,Pritch and Njie.

Those people, me included, saw this coming. We weren't going to get in son for 22 mill then berahino without selling loads. Net spend almost exactly zero again. Part of me almost wants Kane to get injured so levy can take some serious stick. What a complete joke. Long 4 months ahead and I'm now not looking fwrd to it

And those of us that saw it coming were put down by the likes of Stoof. Wait until six o'clock and then complain. All will be well. Have faith.

I think it was more Poch's doing

he strikes me as being very fussy who he brings in for his "philosophy"
I think he's right.

For a long time, especially under Harry we brought in whoever would fill out the squad or possibly be a minor upgrade.
It left us with an over bloated squad of overpaid mediocre players who we would have lost a fortune on if not for levy's negotiation skills.

We've got a host of talented youngsters at the club. Keep the first team fresh for the league by using the full squad and youngsters for all other games and we should be ok.

while i am frustrated at the lack of striker im not in full on period mode like some here - we tried and failed to bring in saido - he wanted to come but we got done.

I am very very happy with the additions to the squad - we have some pace finally - we have a RB in tripper who i am very pleased to have in our side, two CB's and a team of young and hopefully hungry players.

I don't believe this for a second. What's more likely is we tried to unsettle Saido and get him on the cheap, but other chairmen start to get sick of Levy's antics and simply refuse. This is very similar to what happened last summer with Morgan.

We opened with a 5 million bid for Saido this summer. Says it all imo, as thats just insulting WBA.

Levy had a chance to build on the squad twice. Once when Jol took us 5th then more recently when Harry had us in 4th. With CL football next season, we had the best chance to attract stars but failed as usual on the deadline day to finalize a deal. His 5 year plan is a joke. It has been over 5 years and the squad is weaker then when he started!!!

"while i am frustrated at the lack of striker im not in full on period mode like some here - we tried and failed to bring in saido - he wanted to come but we got done. "

we tried by waiting till deadline day then offering way less than they wanted for him. What a shock.

Now when fans start calling for him to leave, he will push the blame elsewhere and sack somebody like he did with Comolli. Since Comolli went to Liverpool, they have repeatedly snatched players we were after from under our noses.

Their view isn't to fix the whole squad in 1 year, but to do it over the next 5 years and if the player is not available as per our plan then no panic, we will wait for exactly the player that fits our plan.

'Their view isn't to fix the whole squad in 1 year...'???

When was the last time we went into a season without a gapping whole in the squad? Poch felt MS was crucial last summer and he still felt we needed him or a version of this summer... Now this window has come and gone and that role still hasn't been filled, so onto jan when it's hard to get clubs to sell so we're possibly looking at next summer...
