It seems we are actually in profit due to money from the Byrne deal...Ha ha.
With Lennon going for £4.5m, our net spend is £0 to the penny!

I wonder what Poch is thinking tonight !
I can be so passive about it, because I went to the Lane on Saturday and I enjoyed it. I stood up, I sang and I yelled at the ref. I supported Spurs. I saw a defensive partnership in its embryo stage. I saw Eric Dier running a midfield like he's been doing it for as long as Pirlo has. I saw Alli running with enthusiasm. THOSE are the things that matter. Add to that some pace in attack and a fit Christian Eriksen and I am happy. What we saw last year were issues with the defence. We have strengthened there. That was the priority.
Do you think Poch may have said that too? Daniel, I'm OK up top, if the right striker comes along we'll have him, otherwise I need defenders and I want TA and a new right back to get Walker playing a bit better.
I have a plan for Dier (and we have Mason and Bentaleb who played there all of last season) but if you can get a DM, then get one. But please let's sort the defence.
"We're a team in decline". Yeah right. Sorry, but it's that sort of bollocks I can't entertain. We have new signings yet to start for us. We've shipped out a load of the bad eggs and the players that weren't going to feature. Hell, we've taken, on an asset-by-asset basis a heavy hit on a lot of them.
So, potentially missing out on a striker that may or may not have improved us vs. what you're saying. Who's being the more dramatic?
No we didn't today. But the good news is we managed to hang onto Ade so we still have two international strikers!!Right I've just landed at Manchester after a 2.5hr flight from Riga.
Just a yes or no will do.... did we sign anyone?
What might be the cost of a better server? Maybe some of us can help.We can only apologise. The 6pm deadline turned out to be a real killer for the site, turns out we cope a lot better when those of you who have lives have logged off and miss the usual 11pm deadlines.
NIIICE!!It seems we are actually in profit due to money from the Byrne deal...
What a bloody shambles. Pathetic that we didn't get a DM in and absolutley pathetic that we didn't get a back up player for Kane. As others have said we should have at least signed a squad player for the Kane back-up. What a mess on deadline day yet again.
And Levy breathes a huge sigh of relief. He got another transfer window profit, yet again. It seems we are actually in profit due to money from the Byrne deal...
We can never expect a klopp style manager from now onIf I was Poch I would walk. He said it was obvious we needed a striker. I would be f img furious and wouldn't blame him if he just a walked. Levy is a complete tool
How funny would it be if we made top 4
Truthfully, I looked earlier when I saw that Son had been moved and it was just Son and KaneWell you just have, as he has always been there.
i think the son/Lamela deal impacted this and why i was such a taggered offer. had we sold lamela and ade i hink it would have freed up the funds to make the sb deal more attractive.
saying that 4 rejected bids is pretty poor form especially if the reports the last one was 5m up front. what was the original offer? " you know what jez how about you give us 5m then we will stagger the payments over 5 years at 2.5m every 6 months. the first 6 payments are mandatory but the remaining 4 depends on us winning the league and me growing a natural afro.".
have a bittersweet feeling right now. common sense is starting to breakthrough that although i was desperate for a big summer signing sb is not worth 25m.
The question you should be asking is why didn't Levy go the extra £2.5m and get Poch the striker he wanted. Given today's prices, that's not outrageous.First - I dearly wanted to sign a striker and DM, but having not done so I ask the following questions:
I would like to know what people consider the definition of a "squad player" is? To me it is a player who is not quite the quality to get in the squad on a consistent basis but in a pinch can do the job at least for a short term. So having said that, could not Chadli, Son, N'Jie not do this for the short term? Just asking.
Would having signed somebody (Charlie Austin) who does not fit the system or some unheard of South American (as Everton did) actually be better than the players we have (and wanted) in the squad?
Also, having signed Son and N'jie will we not use Dembele more central?
