Pato cant handle pochetinno's training session
Good mates are you?
Pato cant handle pochetinno's training session
'Under no circumstances should Bentaleb play the Defensive role as he it often found wanting'.
Nah, that's a ridiculous overreaction to a couple of sloppy passes. 18 year old Bentaleb played as the DM away at Benfica in this team:
FriedelI mean look at the fucking state of that team. Lazy fuckers everywhere. Bentaleb was unreal in that game and has been in many more since then so why shouldn't he play there? We've finally got our team pressing and working properly all over the pitch and have a settled back four. Something Bentaleb's never had the chance to play in. He's a fucking fantastic footballer and could more than do the job for us in DM.
Naughton Sandro Fryers Rose
Bentaleb Sigurdsson
Lennon Chadli Townsend
Soldado
Yes, he's been a bit sloppy on the ball occasionally but now he's finally been punished for that I assume it's something that will be worked on.
Jan is a difficult market. I cant see us going for a loan move. There are not many good strikers around who could fit to our game play.
PL - would look at Perez, Berahino
There are few good strikers in Championship & League 1.
Jordan Rhodes - He is a goal machine scoring 84 Championship goals in 161 games at 150 minutes a goal, playing for a mediocre Blackburn side. He knows back of the net. I guess he is on 40k a week salary - the only thing thats stopping clubs not going for him. I would love to get him. Believe he will perfect for second fiddle role.
Benik Afobe - Another U21 player who was very good last year and as had a decent season till now.
Adam Amstrong - Top scorer in League 1 now for Coventry and in PL was really good for Newcastle. Ofcourse it will be tough to get him. But if we are convinced he is good enough, may be its worth testing the waters for him.
i would add andre gray and moussa dembele to the list
wasn't dembele motm the only time he's played there this season, vs liverpool?
Think any side would miss Dier if he was injured.
However we only really need a true DM in about 8 matches in the PL - we don't need one against the 15 PL sides who come to WHL and sit back, and we don't necessarily need one when we go against those 15 sides away. Dier's range of passing makes him a good DM for us, however if he were absent we'd do ok with some combination of Mason, Bentaleb, Dembele and Alli (in no particular order) and Carroll and Winks and Onomah, but of course I'd prefer to always have the option to play Dier.
I'd be more concerned at the moment if we lost Vertonghen or Alderweireld to injury or suspension as Wimmer has only played 2 games for us so far (and Fazio - who's he ?), and with Veljkovic seemingly out of the picture that would leave us with the choice of recalling Ball from his loan at Rangers (if that were possible) or starting '18 in December' Carter-Vickers in a few matches - or playing Ben Davies as a CB.....or moving Dier from DM back to CB.
Not sure I'd want to buy a CB either - too many good youngsters coming through.
More cover for Kane (to add to Son and Cameron who to me are both better as WF/AM's than strikers - although both can play striker and Chadli who has the physique to be a striker but doesn't seem to be) is a must for me.
Doesn't winks play there

Pato's situation hasn't changed since summer. If we wanted him, we would have already got him. I don't think we are interested at all..
If reports are true we don't want Pato. His wife has divorced him less than a year after the wedding. Her quoted reason - "His constant partying"End of the season in Brazil is in December.
I completely disagree with this.
I think against a team that's sitting back and trying to hit you on the break, having a defensive midfielder is absolutely crucial whilst everyone else is bombing forwards trying to get the break through.
I take your point on the central defenders, and if Fazio were to leave I'd be happy to see us bring in someone with a bit of experience at the back as cover.
I'd sooner pick up a stand in for Dier (might go back for Witsel) and then Dier could cover CB if needed.
Edit; read your later post and Winks might be the answer. Good player.
I think someone like Witsel is unlikely as he wouldn't come in as a 'stand-in', and we wouldn't pay that sort of money for a back-up either.
Ideally we could do with someone like Dier who can cover both CB and DM, but that's very unlikely to materialize. It's why it's such a shame that things don't appear to be working out with Velkjovic as he would appear to fit that role perfectly.
I should add that I think it's unlikely we'll sign another DM in January, but it is an area that worries me.

I too find the Veljkovic situation utterly baffling. He (by all accounts) is exactly what we are looking for and is already at the club. He could make the trip to Quarabag for starters but it seems that once frozen out it's a done deal with Poch. I was tearing my hair out last season when we were so flimsy through the middle with the Mason/Bentaleb pairing whilst we had Stambouli and Capoue doing nothing week after week. Dier has made a massive difference.
