We don't expect anyone better than Kane just someone that can come on when poor old Harry is knackered and do a decent job. Any such player will improve the squad.

We need a striker without a doubt but no point bringing someone who isn't good enough.

Playing the 'no point if they're not better than what we've got' doesn't fly when you've only got 1 recognised out and out striker. You can afford to be picky when you're looking to replace someone or if you have depth but not when you only have 1 option to start with. Kane can be great but he's run into the ground and it's starting to show. Getting a player to come to us on our terms is obviously an issue but there's no doubt that there's quality players out there who would improve our squad.

Well if that's the case, we'll be fine. I definitely think there are strikers out there who can improve us and I personally thinking this time Levy can afford to push the boat out a bit more as we might be getting 12mil+ for Townsend. Maybe you're right.

Time for Levy to back his manager but how many times has that happened? No often. We had the same spiel years ago when Berbatov left and our remaining strikers couldn't hit a barn door... yet we were told there wasn't anyone out there who could improve on what we had.

Spoke to someone who's given me decent info in the past tonight. He was in the directors box and I sit just behind it - apparently Poch is pushing very hard for a new striker - all this 'happy with what he's got' is just party line.

What's the betting we cash in on Townsend and bring nobody in. It's all pointing that way thus far.

12m for townsend now (pretty sure that's what's being implied) would be a coup.

If Afobe costs £10m and Shelvey £12m then a proven Premier League and international player like Townsend (with overpriced English player tax included) is worth at least £15m. At least.

If we get 14-15m for Townsend that's bloody amazing. No excuses for not paying up for a striker

Add a few more mill for fazio and we're laughing
