For the first and only time in my life I'll be rooting for West Ham tonight and cheering on Chelsea tomorrow. Mental.

Surely a draw is best result in the Spammers game? I already don't like how close they are to us, so a further 2 points on them, as well as closing on City by 2 points, would be the best thing for us?

Not sure dude. We'll still be 4 points clear of them if they take out City. :)

Got to hate those 3-1 draws.

They must only show penalties on Norwegian MOTD I guess

Cue Alli wonder goal and all was right with the world once more.

Worth adding that this post is tongue in cheek. We are all here because we are passionate about spurs.

At least wait until we don't win a match to suggest we don't know how to win a match though. Certainly not the worst offender however.

it was more in direction towards leicester and how every1 thinks they are gonna fall away when we should be looking at ourselves :p

It's meant tongue in cheek, I hope no one takes genuine offense. Just a bit of a laugh about how crazy this stupid game makes us.
Don't hold your breath. I did similar on a couple of occasions last season and ended up having my nut stack pierced with a size four knitting needle heated over an open coal fire.

I haven't read the in-match rants on the match thread (I generally don't bother), but even sight unseen, the nature of the criticism I see in quoted posts just doesn't suit the match we just watched.

People's vision routinely gets distorted by the current scoreline. This is a bad thing. Had we been ahead, as we deserved to be, or even level at half time, then the level of criticism would have been different, based on the same performances. This is also bad.

In the real world, we dominated nearly the entire match and virtually every one of Palace's chances came from self-inflicted sloppy or clumsy play by Spurs. Every time we set off on a counter-attack we looked like scoring and, when we weren't counter-attacking, we were crushing them with possession and mounting a steady stream of quite brilliant approach play, sometimes let down by the final ball, but more often defended capably by Palace. It was a vastly one-sided game, from beginning to end, and eventually the scoreline suited the balance of play (which does not always happen).

My point is that Alli's supposedly hopeless play wasn't really all that bad - it just looked that way to fans with these 'brain-and-eye' issues because we were behind. We couldn't have dominated the entire match if he had not played his part in the control of possession and the build-up play.

He made some errors early in the match, mainly sloppy passes and poor positioning, leading to us losing possession. Mistakes get over-remembered and over-emphasised, especially when we are losing. The balance of play gets forgotten and under-remembered.

We're going to have to put up with this stuff from Alli until he matures. You don't bench your 19-year-old match-winner because he's inconsistent. You play him until the rest of his game fills in around his brilliant moments.

I think also that we are actually experiencing the evolution of the team as a unit, as well as that of several players, not just Alli. Think back to the start of the season, all we really saw was a very hard working, high pressing team grind out a point per game. Now we see a much more selective press. The first really creative move of any note was Mason's winner away to Sunderland. Since then we've seen that sort of play grow and become more frequent, we've seen games that might then have been draws become wins, such as this one, we've seen Poch begin to trust his team more, such as in the 3-at-the-back game away to Watford, and today where he removed Dier quite early, and we've seen the collective work ethic evolve to the point where it can actually carry one or two less tuned-in, more flair-oriented players. We're also seeing much better and more productive off the ball movement begin to open up space in a way that only sheer effort was doing earlier in the season. Of course, that last little element is so hard to observe on tv, and the question of what a player does in the 86 minutes or so during the game where he doesn't have the ball seldom gets discussed. I suspect that that factor is quite central to why Eriksen and Alli keep their places.

Pardew thinks we have a good team of "individuals" and that Lloris was our man of the match, (though i thought that he was) but the way Pardew said it was really a back handed compliment.

Bitter and twisted prick that he is.

Sorry, not havin it, regardless of where your tongue is.

Alli scored his goal after dropping deeper, and was sitting deeper in forward moves, including the one in which he scored. Lo and behold, he did better when he had more space instead of when he was standing in the thick of things at the top of the box as he was while an AM in this match.
