Spurs also miss pace up front as, which make Spurs less effective on counter attacks. Lamela can dribble and so can Eriksen and, for a CF, Kane ain't a bad dribbler either.
But most of all Spurs need some added goals up front. Lacazette seem the be a combination somehow of Boufal and Ousmane.

Disagree. I think we are great on the counter. Not only we do great on counters, but we do it the right way. We get to the other goal in 2 or 3 passes. It's more effective this way than what you want, with a pacy player running all the way. The ball moves faster than a player.

Lamela, Eriksen can dribble but they are not dribblers. A dribbler is someone like Robben, like Mahrez. Boufal is someone like that, and we don't have that characteristic on our squad.
Dembele is more like Onomah, Oduwa. A pacy player that dribbles with space. We need someone to unlock tight defenses.

Dembele just has that appreciation of space that very few players have - like Alli he knows where to be and when to arrive there. He could be 15 plus goals a season player. I'm just not sure Boufal would do that in the PL, even though I like him.

That's because Dembele is a wide forward who looks to score. Boufal is an attacking mid who looks to create.

http://www.squawka.com/news/batshuayis-priority-is-to-join-tottenham/657341?

Greg Stobart (who now works for Squawka) did a Q&A today, which involved discussion about our transfer plans. We want 3 players apparently.

He says Batshuayi is 'very, very close'.

Apparently Poch came to the realisation that our midfield options weren't good enough after the Dortmund game- Stobart says we want another 'powerful' midfielder. Also says that Bentaleb will leave :(

He also says we want another attacking player- I guess that is someone like Boufal or Dembele.

On contracts, he says Hugo, Kane, Jan, Eriksen and Lamela are all in discussions over new contracts- Eriksen has 'verbally agreed' a new one and he reckons now that Poch is staying, he will sign it very soon.
Top news all around.

Great is an over statement. Leicester (and Atl. Madrid) yes, Spurs are just a decent counter attacking team. If they were great they would have punished teams like Leicester.
Dembele does not need space to go past players though, as he uses both ball skills and body strength to pass players in the middle of the park.
Boufal may be the player Spurs need but it's not that easy to unlock tight defenses. Mahrez thrives at Leicester because they are a paking-the-bus team based on counter attacking and long balls. Spurs are facing parked busses week after week.

Highly disagree with this. Thinking like this fails to understand any lessons from our previous failures or our current rise. It's about the collective, the group, the building of a team culture and ethos, and just ripping up the squad and adding loads of wonderkids from around the world isn't going to help.

Who the hell is talking about ripping up the sqaud?? You're just going down the straw man argument route here.

You talk about learning from this season, yet since last summer we've let go of:

Townsend - highly rated academy player
Hotlby - highly rated and energetic midfielder
Stambouli - effective DM back-up who has gone on to make 34 appearances for PSG this season

That's not including the other 8 or 9 players that were in and around the first team squad that left us.

So i'm not talking about a 12+ player exodus like this season (although it seemed to do us a world of good), but rather moving out a couple of promising players (much like those 3 above) and bringing in 3 better ones to replace them.

In fact we're effectively running a 21 man squad at the moment of:

Lloris, Vorm, Walker, Rose, Davies, Trippier, Verts, Toby, Wimmer, Dier, Bentaleb, Mason, Dembele, Carroll, Erikssen, Alli, Chadli, Clinton, Son, Lamela, Kane.

So if we moved Carroll on then we have space for 2 players to come in within a 22 man squad. I think we also need a 3rd player and i would personally look to move on Chadli, but the other option is to play a 23 man squad with only one player leaving and 3 coming in.

So all in all in no way is that "ripping up the squad". It's actually leaving the vast majority of the squad alone, moving on one player who for me doesn't cut it at the level we need him to and then bringing in 2-3 new players to help us with the tought challeneges we will face next season.

I think Bentaleb could well go. We'd get decent money for him and I don't see him getting much game time. Mason and Winks are decent enough for depth and I expect us to bring in a defensive cover for Dier. If we brought in Dendoncker I think Bentaleb would be gone and I could happily live with that.

Carroll's contract is virtually finished I believe but I could see us re-signing him. He offers quite a good option behind the front 3 and can pick a pass. I also think Chadli might be touted around. He frustrates the hell out of me in that every time I've really had enough of him he pops up with an important goal.

TRANSFER RUMOUR:

Spurs scouts have been watching 16yr old Real Madrid academy striker Pedro Ruiz and are set to make an offer to the youngster in the coming days.

Head of recruitment Paul Mitchell appointed a scout last summer based in Spain and Portugal and it is believed this scout identified this player right away as one to watch.

Ruiz signed for Real Madrid academy from Real Betis where he joined as an 8yr old.

According to reports the youngster is not the only Real Madrid player Spurs are currently interested in and a bid for midfielder Toni Kroos is to be lodged in the summer.

The German midfielder is out of favour under Zidane and has been told he can leave this summer while Spurs are looking to recruit a few experienced Champions League players to aid the young squad.

In the past maybe, but we have a lot more to offer world class players now

here's hoping
Don't get me wrong, we have the perfect set up for a player like this, but we have been trumped many times before and the bigger boys still have a bigger sway despite our rise.

I wasn't trying to be informative, that's me being absolutely shocked that relegation battling Swansea have players on £100k a week.
@alexis has clarified it for me, but still a bit confused as to who that player is because I think their best player is Williams who I wouldn't mind as a backup but not on those wages.

Spose Ayew is on a fair whack but doubt it's that much, Siggy likely on half that, nobody else I can think of...
