Last statement wrong. We'll still get CL coz City will be 2nd. But have to face playoff to get into CL proper if we end up 4th, something i wont want.

So at the very least we must get 3rd.

I'm only going by the media reports which say a Liverpool Europa win means 4th place misses out on the champs league.

No, it's impossible, as both City and Liverpool need to finish outside the Top 4 and win their competitions for 4th to miss out.

How is there still a lack of clarity on this situation?

a) I don't spend my life in this thread
b) all the media reports I've read have only mentioned Liverpool winning the Europa = no 4th place champions league spot. There's been no mention of City winning the champs league affecting CL qualification.

It basically means we are guaranteed at least a CL playoff spot already. Because if we do finish 4th then City will definitely finish above us, and therefore allowing 4th place to get the CL spot.

Welcome back to the CL boys!

Just win the next three games and let's see what happens. Quite frankly it would be devastating to allow arsenal to overtake us, even if we do get champions league.

I'm more concerned about our development this season and transition to next season. Let's suppose we end badly and get 2 points or even 3 in our last 3 games. Arsenal would finish above us if they win against City and Villa. We would get 3rd, group stages CL. Personally I'd be a bit disappointed but hardly devastated.

1. If City beat Arsenal, then we need 1 point to more or less claim 3rd spot because of our superior GD.

You mean 2nd? If city beat arse both can only Get 70. If we get 1 point we Will be on 70.

We have 9 goals on city and something like 14 on arse.

2nd 90% secured.

When we got 4th against City I was delirious, today no such feelings which show how far we have come.
Amazing performance and achievement this season. Let's just be proud and happy.

We have lost 4 games all season. We aren't going to Suddenly lose 3 games in a row despite missing Dele.

Yeah that was such an awesome day. The whole match and ice bucket incident. Was a feeling that we'd achieved the impossible.
Think theres a slight feeling of disappoint after coming so close to winning it while at the same time being over the moon about where we are at.
We're at a point now where finishing inside the top 4, despite still being possible not to until today, has been a given for most purely because of how we've been playing and how inconsistent our competitors look so dropping to third, fourth or below Arsenal is going to feel like failure compared with what could have been.
Like Leicester winning it, nobody really gave us a monkeys farts chance of getting top 4.
Once its set in stone we've finished above the scum thats when we'll all be doing a jig imo.

It is hard to shake the "we are bound to fuck it up" mindset for those of us that have around for a while. Luckily these players do not have that history. I am confident we can get 7 or 9 points from these last 3 games. Won't be enough to win the league but give us the confidence for next season that we can.

It will be interesting to see how the bookies price up next season, i bet they still have City, Chelsea and Arsenal above us in the betting and Liverpool and Utd close.

8th will qualify for Europa League qualifiers if Liverpool win the Europa League and finish seventh, and Manchester United win the FA Cup and finish in the top six, and Manchester City qualify for the Champions League

All very possible

Mad to think almost have the teams in our league could be playing in Europe next season

Depends on how transfers go, but I'd make us 2nd favorites behind Man City. Even then, they may take time to settle with Pep and the new layers he brings in. Important we get off to a fast start next year.

Right now, City is massively favored to win the league in the latest odds for next season I've seen today (11/8). Chelsea are second favorites (9/2), then Arsenal and United (13/2 and 7/1), then us 5th at 8/1, with Liverpool closely behind at 9/1. Leicester are 33/1. I think there is a big assumption that with the relaxation of FFP and the massive influx of television cash, City, Chelsea, and United could all spend 200-300 million pounds this summer. That heavy spending doesn't always work, but they all will have absolute top managers working for them, so it's fair to expect them to buy at least a few decent players between them.

I do think Guardiola is going to be a force in the coming years at City. He's probably the manager with the most pull worldwide to bring in top players. Once he gets them going, I suspect they'll be tough to stop with their unlimited spend and ability to attract anyone in world football. So, I think we've got to be very clever this summer in freshening up the squad and hit the ground running in August.

Skybet will probably have us odds on for relegation.........
