Alder
Wimmer
Trippier
Son
Njie

I imagine were all #1 choice for their roles.

In fact I think Son was on our 'out of our league but worth a cheeky try' list, with Berahino below him as top of our realistic list

Agree on the defenders but we seemed very much want to want Martial early in the summer before he signed a new deal at Monaco so guessing at least one of Son or Njie were 2nd choice, probably the latter.

Berahino to Watford £15m
Deeney to Leicester £20m
Vardy to Arsenal £20m
Embolo to United £15m
Lukaku to Chelsea £50m
Batshuayi to Everton £30m
Aubameyang to City £60m
Janssen to Spurs £12m

I'd say only us and United will have done decent business there, although City will probably be getting the best player.

Apologies if its already been said, but now the euros have begun I really cannot see us signing Batshuayi (or anyone else at the Euros) until his team is knocked out - which given its Belgium probably will be quarter final/semi final/final - so I doubt if its going to be this month, and may well be mid July given finals are on 10 July.

This is always the problem if you don't act fast. He might turn West Ham down, but he's not going to do the same with Chelsea.

Ffs this is such a myth.

Agents will whore around players until they find a club who will give them and their client the most cash.

It doesn't matter how fast we act the player/agent/selling club will wait until they know have the highest bid.

We might have been trying to tie the deal up all this time for all we know. But if Chelsea had been asked to keep informed then the selling party will wait until they 100% know Chelsea aren't gonna make a bid. Therefore making us wait.

If Batshuayi flat out rejected West Ham why the hell would he want to go to Everton instead?!

Quite possibly. Or alternatively, Batshuyi wants to come to us over a club like West Ham meaning Marseille have to negotiate with us, giving us the perceived upper hand in negotiations. Meanwhile, Chelsea come in at a later stage and are prepared to pay nearer what they want and Marseille and Batshuyi say thank you very much.

We don't know if Chelsea have been interested all along or have switched attention to him. If the scenario you describe occurs all the time, no transfers would ever be completed until the end of the window.

Just pointing out that if it is us who are playing the waiting game believing Marseille are in a poor negotiating position thinking we only have West Ham as rivals for his signature, then the Chelsea link (if it's true) changes the game completely.
