Lennon and Townsend were both let go for failing to meet Poch's discipline standards as much as anything.

Yeah fair enough, but I think if Poch really wanted that type of player he would have persevered with Lennon.

Just can't see Bolasie as a serious option.

As I say, I could see a young wide man coming in from Belgium or a French academy. Total raw wildcard. Or may Poch sees an injury free Njie offering us that next season.

Not from the sounds of it: Poch seems to be very strict on his expectations and players who do not live up to them are shipped out. I feel Chadli is next.
If a player is right for Poch and the team, get em in. Last season shows he can do it.

Same source?
Not for the RO FFS or twitter please
Doubt it ;)
we are looking at a few maybes that could be worth it but cant spill the beans as its one of those frequent ones that might evaporate. Not really an AM though at this point.
Still not totally across what is 'really' driving the Gotze story but can give my opinion which is a not likely if that helps?

It's a real shame if Gotze is available, and we're not interested. He could really elevate our attacking play, IMO.

So we're looking at players that aren't an AM? Not sure we really need to unless it's a really good coup or something.

JJ's 'not likely' means I can still retain some hope on Gotze. At least it wasn't a 'No' :joyful::joyful::joyful::LOL::LOL::LOL::smug::smug::playful::playful:

Can only think maybe a fullback, or somone to compete with Dembele for the more attacking of the two CMs.

I think our attacking play needs a player that can get in behind by beating a man on or off the ball, we already have plenty of attackers that play in front of a defence.

"Not really an AM" sounds like a player who is probably more of a CM but could play a little bit as an AM. Mateo Kovacic is the answer.

(It's the answer because I want it to be the answer).

JJ's previously said he doesn't think we're selling Bentaleb, so I'd be surprised if it's another CM. Unless it's a Winger and he's distinguished that from an AM, whereas many of us will consider an AM as anyone who can play in the '3'.

So that just makes things more confusing! Not AM suggests opportunistic signings, so maybe potential big club drop outs.

Thanks for info though!

Really helps us getting the business done early this year and not having to get lots of players. This is what stability in coaching and squad helps you achieve. We needed some depth which we've got and we wont be throwing away silly money like Pool or Chelsea on just ok players.

So if not an AM it has to be either a CB, CM (Dembele cover).

I personally feel we are now at that stage where we have the depth and it's all about either top quality that fit into Poch's criteria, or young up and comers.

Thanks for dropping in JJ.... As always

Man Utd are getting rid of a few aren't they.

Schneiderlin, Mata, Blind, Deepay and Januzaj

Thats without mentioning Citeh, Chelsea and pool who with their new managers will be shipping out a few and reshaping their squads.

I read it as some players are coming available that are interesting us. But it is down to the usual factors (our player exits, transfer fees, wages), and right now the maybes are too tenuous.

What I don't get is "worth it?" Worth replacing one of our current players who is on the edge? Worth a large fee and/or large wages? Potentially a big talent, but might have some headaches we normally don't like to deal with?

Who could possibly come into our team and be "worth it?"

Was saying this last week, get DM and ST competition sorted early and then I'm happy for the club to explore all possibilities, especially opportunistic ones like the Gotze link.

Also nice to see us push deals through without focusing on outs first.

Probably a few at most big clubs around Europe once the transfer merry go round really gets going. A bit like how Arsenal picked up Ozil and Sanchez, although probably a notch down for financial reasons.
