Have a feeling we have stalled with reporting Eriksens contract and the signing of Pau and GKN for today just to try and please the fans.

If so thats borderline insulting. How thick do they think we are

Starting to get sick of Daniels tricks
I take it you remember the changing of Son's squad status from midfielder to striker and claiming that he's always been intended as backup for Kane after we failed to sign a striker?

Is it a coincidence that in a window of few leaks that our apparent interest in Isco was squirting out all over the media.
No. Club put it out there to appease the fans. They do something like this every year. Then it never does so levy releases a statement and everyone runs back on his side again and spew the same old grass isn't always greener crap.

Others have strengthened quite a bit. Top 4 revert will back to form. No way are we fonishing above arsenal as we never do. And United, Chelsea and City are all better than us.

I genuinely don't think us signing Isco or Sissoko changes that.

Football is what it is. We cannot compete financially with those clubs. Even when the stadium is done we will only be on a par with Arsenal and not the other three.

Yes we all want Levy to spend more, and yes this window he probably should have done.

But does that mean I want to rip my own heart out with a rusty pitchfork?

I just think that if some of you guys genuinely feel this way about a transfer window, then we're going to need to set up a new 'therapy' section of SC because it's not normal.

"Can't believe we're starting the season without a defensive midfielder. Yeah Dier's played there in pre-season, but he's hardly gonna do it all year is he? Our back-up centre-half as a defensive midfielder in a team that's supposed to challenge for the Top 4, we're a laughing stock. We'll finish below Palace and Stoke - just look at who they've signed".

I think that summarises the mood last year.

It also goes to show that most of you, including me, know absolutely fuck all.
Perfectly valid point but you also understand that we were exceptionally fortunate with injuries. This year we don't have a squad? Ok youth is coming on buts its an enormous ask of them

I do believe that if we had invested in an attacking midfielder and pace last year we would have won the league. It's not rocket science. Still no investment this year. Criminal. I will be surprised if Poch is with us next year.

ITK suggesting we have been trying hard for him all week and Levy himself flew over to Spain to try and convince the guy - I'd say that's trying pretty hard.

BUT THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH, LEVY AND POCH SHOULD SIGN HIM ANYWAY - WAAAAAAHHHH!!!

People can claim others are overreacting but from what I can see...

We have played shit the start of the season and that's down to missing one man, Dembele.

How can we go into the season where we have CL relying on someone who can't effectively play two games a week.

Instead of finding a quality alternative to him, we are looking at the bleak potential of PL games with an axis of Wanyama and DIer (that's granted they aren't injured/suspended too)

As for our attacking options, all but Lamela are out of form and look devoid of ideas, fresh ,quality blood was needed.

I think it's the not being able to compete with the likes of Everton - and even Crystal Palace - that is pissing everyone off.

Last season was okay up until the last 5 games, where we were burnt out, and had suspensions.
And that was with us playing weaker line-ups in the cup competitions.
You'd think we actually want to win something this time around, or maybe get past the group stage of the CL.

As I've said we should have strengthened.

I completely agree that we are unlikely to compete on both fronts with this squad.

I'm just waiting for some sensible debate to break out about it rather than the garment-rending ludicrous and childish fury that is pouring out of some on here at the moment (not your good self I might add).

I'm sure we'll still be trying at 10:59pm, clearly shows we've got a startegy

I have heard nothing since this morning(which I posted). I'm just saying these deadline day deals often twist and turn, they are off then on then off then on again. Terms of the deal often change quickly to get things done purchases that are definitely off become loans latter on, or Players move in the opposite direction that were never part of the original deal as a sweetener to the selling club. Admittedly we don't have the best track record with getting things to a yes conclusion in the end, but as I say I'm fairly sure we will still be trying for a while yet.

Kane played every game, and he was often brilliant - but there were times when he was clearly cream crackered, and someone coming off the bench would have provided a new, better threat. That's before you even consider the possibility of using him alongside another striker, as Poch has been willing to do this season. We were lucky that Kane didn't get injured last season, but it didn't mean that having no one else wasn't an issue.

I do agree that we lack a bit of directness and width, and signing someone like Zaha (but ideally not fucking Zaha) would be a good thing in that respect...but the idea that we haven't significantly strengthened already is just obviously bollocks as far as I'm concerned. As with every transfer window, it's the hope - and the hype - that affects how people see the window; we whinge about the club leaving signings too late every window and not giving them the chance to bed in, but then when we get the big signings in early like we did with Wanyama and Janssen, we forget about them by the time deadline day comes around and get the hump because we're not buying more players.

We haven't strengthened the first team in the slightest. Surely that's not up for debate? If everyone is fit and available our best first 11 is the same team from last season.

That's what bothers me. Yes our squad options are a bit better. But to me you should always be looking at ways to improve your starting team and we haven't done that.

But those kind of marquee signings at least give us hope. Even if it turns out to be false hope, it's still hope.
Right now we're all sitting here completely bemused (but not at all surprised) at the way we do our transfer business.

Hmmmm....if only there was some way to see whether we could compete with Everton and Crystal Palace and show that they haven't overtaken us.

I know!

How about matches between the clubs to see!

Last season probably a Martial and Waynama away from the league but can't change the past.

I don't doubt all would've preferred Isco but I'm sure a lot would be placated if we managed to get Coric, also highly unlikely unfortunately as to get him we would have to offer a price his club couldn't turn down which is not what we do.
