His reputation on that front is a bit overblown though IMO... Dier and Wanyama have been a poor partnership in the first 3 games and yet the next 2 in line have seen what, 15 mins between them? And we're supposed to believe they will suffice for the season?

The assumption that you have made is that they won't. But then you don't have any knowledge on the subject (with respect of course, nor do I - but I have a bit of faith that if Pochettino names whoever on his bench, he's happy that they can step up).

12 year veteran of SC transfer windows. This is the first one ive gone in to with zero expectation on deadline day. Yet im still disappointed. We know how these things work with us.....Nkoudou later and Sissoko to Chelsea. And thats it.

It would just be nice to not have to be busy on deadline day and to do all our business earlier. We look comical, every season. As a fan I can't help but think that we are always gambling with possible success by not being clinical enough with our dealings. We go from being desperate to sign a player and just missing out on them and then not going back in for them next window year after year which suggests we were not really in for them in the first place.
Most clubs do something on deadline day including Yanited, Chelsea the scum etc. It's the way things are now for everyone.

Adrian Silva has a €38.5m release clause, haven't we been linked?

Not by me.

so you think poch is happy with the current squad?

he worked wonders with what he had last season. extremely hard to do that again imo

I think Poch is fully aware that we can't spend big because of the stadium, and has said so numerous times.

That's brilliant, but surely not when the games we will be playing are for extremely high stakes.

Whats the point in the youth set up we have spend hundreds of millions of pounds producing? Just tell yourself we have signed 4-5 players at £50m a pop who need time to adjust....

I was generally content before the Liverpool game but then we discovered that we are lacking something else in attack (variation), to which Poch even confessed afterwards and then we started to offload most of our back-up options. That's why most people are concerned. I want us to promote youth players as much as anyone but you can't always rely on them, especially as the competition has intensified.

My concern is Poch he let players go with a promise we would improve quality, this is yet again very short sighted by Levy if we fail to get anybody bar GNK and Pau.

Hence my call for calm yesterday, typical Levy, bad news as it will upset players and Poch, broken promises

And also regarding Poch

Possibly but not walk out just go if he gets right offer, he wanted to improve quality and use youngsters to develop quality and have back up, if we fail to bring in at least 1 more we will have limited forward/creative player at least- Zaha, Coric were both players he was happy to bring in, he wanted more pace, he wanted more options so he could have a plan B/C etc numbers were not that important but certainly been left with less than he would want.

Yes but I also feel that after his comments on the weekend that he was expecting Levy to pull something out of the bag especially after letting 2 first team squad members go in the last 2 days.

I have heard nothing since this morning(which I posted). I'm just saying these deadline day deals often twist and turn, they are off then on then off then on again. Terms of the deal often change quickly to get things done purchases that are definitely off become loans latter on, or Players move in the opposite direction that were never part of the original deal as a sweetener to the selling club. Admittedly we don't have the best track record with getting things to a yes conclusion in the end, but as I say I'm fairly sure we will still be trying for a while yet.

TRYING is the right word. I've had enough. I have been promising to paint the conservatory for ages. I hate painting but I need sanity. Punk music on loud. In the words of The Stranglers - Something Better Change. See ya all at midnight.

First team squad members who wouldn't make our bench when all fit.

I think you'll find he's actually currently in Levy's office holding a knife to his wrists and shouting, "I'LL DO IT! BY CHRIST I'LL DO IT!!!! IF YOU DON'T BUY ME ISCO AND SISSOKO I SWEAR I'LL DO IT. AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
While Daniel Levy puts his fingers in his ears yelling "nah nah nah nah nah, I can't hear you". Meanwhile Donna Cullen comes in the room "would you 2 pack it in for heavens sake. Every bloody window it's the same with you. If you don't learn to get along I'll put a rumour out about us signing Aguero then you'll both look silly when you have to explain why it didn't happen"

"Can't believe we're starting the season without a defensive midfielder. Yeah Dier's played there in pre-season, but he's hardly gonna do it all year is he? Our back-up centre-half as a defensive midfielder in a team that's supposed to challenge for the Top 4, we're a laughing stock. We'll finish below Palace and Stoke - just look at who they've signed".

I think that summarises the mood last year.

It also goes to show that most of you, including me, know absolutely fuck all.

Last year we got REALLY lucky IMO. Chelsea capitulated, Utd struggled, City announced a new manager half way through the season (almost). Even then we struggled with maintaining a title challenge at the end of the season.

We had practically zero notable injuries to the first team. If Kane / Toby / Dembele had been out for any sustained period i think we would have dropped enough points to have been in a close race for 4th.

I think the concern this season is that there are some very strong teams out there. Utd, City and Chelsea all look like very serious PL contenders. Arsenal, Leicester, Everton, Liverpool and Spurs all look like very serious top 4 contenders.

Then there are the potential surprise performance teams like West Ham and Southampton and potentially anyone who might go on to do a Leicester from last season.

Frankly we are in the top 3 of 6 horse race for 3rd and 4th spot this season. And bottom 2 of a 6 horse race for the PL title.
