If you think that deal was done on the last day then you are very naive.

Well given that we've had Isco ITK for several days now it's clearly not a case that we woke up this morning and decided to go after Isco.

But there are a hundred other deals i can point in your direction to show you're wrong, just take a look on SSN transfers today and you'll see some.

Spurs have a billionaire owner, a stadium that was financed and budgeted for before these huge new TV deals and CL was guaranteed, and still don't spend more than they bring in. Earning CL should have brought them in 20-30 mill guaranteed which wasn't guaranteed before last season and (I would imagine) wasn't budgeted in for this window. Why wasn't that money spent?

Really, if they want to act like this, they should just strictly stick to players with buyout clauses because at least they know how much they will cost. Of course, Levy thinks even those are negotiable.

I wonder why other chairman even pick up the phone when they see "D.Levy" on the caller ID.
I'd rather we spent within our means until the stadium is paid off.
We have taken 6 weeks to try and sign N'koudou

Stoke have signed Bony and now have him playing a training ground match in the space of 4 hours.

And some people still back the little bald ****.
N'Koudou has been training with us...

Yes so we can announce him on deadline day because we clearly ain't buying anyone else... Champions league won't be happening again for a while with our poor ambitions.

As a newbie can the veterans tell me what been the worst/most entertaining meltdown in recent years? Where does today's early one rank?

Brilliant. So what do we do?
Offer a player a £150k a week and upset the rest of the squad, or put all of their wages up and put ourselves in a difficult financial position that affects the clubs future?

Or back the chairman that took us from perennial mid-table legends under Sugar while stabilising the club's finances, turning us into perennial top 4/5/6 teams in the process. And trust him to keep us there or thereabouts until the stadium's built and we're bringing in much bigger revenue, and then compete in the transfer market with the bigger teams?

Rocket science it ain't.
So you are saying the only players we can sign that can improve our squad are ones who will demand £150k a week? What ever happened to our fabulous scouts or Mitchell's amazing formulae?

We all know how this is going to go.

We'll sign Nkoudou and probably someone for the U17s and that'll be it. Danny Boy will turn up for work tomorrow with a new diamond studded Prince Albert saying we really tried for Isco but Real wouldn't accept the fee in Somali shillings or some such excuse.

The difference from past windows is that i'm actually ok with this. Of course it would be nice to have a shiny new marquee signing but Poch has shown he can develop our youth players. If at the end of the season Winks, Onomah or Edwards have become 1st team regulars at the Alli level then Levy's parsimony in yet another window will quickly be forgotten.

Hahahaha hahahaha!
You what???

You're arguing with yourself mate... Where have I said any of the above?

You asked, 'Apart from the money bag teams, which of outer rivals have strengthened better than us'? And I simply stated that the money bag teams are our rivals... I never mentioned anything else?!

I agree with how difficult it is, but unfortunately we're competing on the pitch, we're not competing on XL spread sheets, so that makes them our rivals, even though they have a shit load more cash than us.

Rocket science ain't it.
