We've had over 1.5 million page impressions today! I'll check tomorrow but I think that's the most EVER in a single day on SC.
Just like to throw out a massive thanks to your good selves for keeping from doing anything useful all day. Joined this site a dozen years ago and it has been a consistent beacon of insightful comment and humour amongst all the blogs and forums out there.

"I don't think that a few good games at Euro 2016 warrant the £30m fee that Moussa Sissoko has been valued at, certainly given the form that he showed for Newcastle last season.

"But what this Spurs side needs is pace and that is what he provides. He has the raw materials and Mauricio Pochettino will relish getting his hands on him. He could have a really good season there."

Just caught up with the thread.....that was a bit dramatic!

I'm one of those who was happy to get Sissoko so I'm pretty pleased, although you have to wonder why we didn't drop £30m odd on Mane if we were prepared to pay that as he's the better player for sure.

Although to be fair to Levy ( and I've been quite critical of him ) we hadn't agreed a lot of our sales out until end of the window and at least he seems to be backing the manager.

I don't really care what he cost as the market is crazy.

I still feel we are lacking guile and creativity and Eriksen basically has no competition, but Sissoko eases my fears about squad depth, gives us serious pace and fits with Poch's remit of versatile players.

Obviously like everyone else would have preferred Isco but like it or not we are a step
down from Real Madrid, even if we are in the CL.

Telegraph on Sissoko Deal :

"It is understood Tottenham’s change of heart came after Pochettino told Levy that he wanted Sissoko, no matter of the cost. The U-turn went against the favoured policy of both Pochettino and Levy not to spend more than £20m on players aged over 25, but it was agreed that 27-year-old Sissoko was the best player Spurs could get at such a late stage."

Have we just signed the most expensive championship player in history? Hahaha

Now that's all done, let's get behind him and the team for the rest of the season. We undoubtably a stronger and better balanced squad than before the start of the window.

He's a good player, the only part I don't understand is...

Over all the years that we have had the opportunity to spend £30m on a player, why is it only Moussa Sissoko that's made the cut? What is special about him?
Poch wanted him and time to back his Manager

My brothers mate at work is a season ticket holder at NUFC and says that the fans up there can't wait to get rid of Sissoko.

On one of their forums they asked where you would like to see him at the end of the transfer window...

Let's hope the c.£10M sting in the tail will 'help' Levy move things along quicker at an earlier stage in future......

He will be competition for Dembele. He was in the French Euro squad with Matuidi, Pogba, Kante, and Kondogbia thats pretty impressive company to be keeping, Kante EPL league winner, Matudid French League Winner, Pogba Serie A League winner. I don't think Deschamps is a mug, World Cup Winner, Euro Winner, Champions League winner. I just can't believe for a minute that Deschamps was mugged off and put Sissokko in that side with those players if he didn't see something in him. And I personally felt he looked better than Pogba at the Euros.

Personally I did not think much of the Fewnch team. Thought they were very lucky to get anywhere. Then again no team in the Euros were more than bang average
