Big day for the club yesterday. Trimmed the squad but added quality, most gaps filled in this window, Levy backed the manager even though it probably hurt him to spend £30m on MS. In my opinion, we have improved, for not a massive outlay on transfer fees and not a huge uplift in wages I would imagine.

Big day for SC too. This forum in this window has just been full of people moaning, and telling us how we won't buy anyone because we won't net spend. ITK seemed to be becoming a thing of the past. To be honest, it was becoming less and less of a fun place to frequent. Yesterday though, was full of the usual moaning and bollocks, but was the most mental roller coaster ride ever. Reminded us all why we love this place. Another small donation on the way.

Well done to those that run this place. The site ran really well under extreme pressure, and was well moderated. Thanks to you all.

Thanks to all the ITKs, without you this thread is nothing. You all made this window great. Thanks of course to dovahkiin, glad my missus has no idea how much pleasure I get from a whore on the Internet.

And it's about time we all agreed, well done Daniel Levy. Smug faces on your bastard sons this morning.

My donation in too. Up the Spurs.

A great window. We are stronger now than last season and to get Sissoko last minute is the icing on the cake. He has the ability to be an absolute star under Poch. Anyone that watched watched Euros could see this.

Stepped away from all this for a few hours, expecting us to have signed no one, come back to find we signed Sissoko, who I thought was confirmed with Everton. It's nice to see us shaft another club in the market.
Exhibit A...... Willian

Excellent window for me, thought the business was done at VJ and VW, seemed we had to offload a few and maybe interest in them came late which held us back also. Still a nagging feeling we dropped 30m on the wrong type but I am happy enough with Sissoko we must now be close to the most powerful PL outfit, what we still miss is craft and guile in and around the opposition box. Levy did good imo, hope Poch can deliver now.

You make the same bet as me? I got 20-1 we would have the most signings today.

Yep. I got 15/1. Did anyone sign more than us? I guess they did as the bet lost.

Luckily I had Sissoko at 9/1 as well so a donation will be made.

Syn your a Juve fan aren't ye? Did Hernanes move to Genoe

Doesn't looke like it, unless something happened when I went to bed. It was dependent on thr Witsel deal which fell through.

I'm glad because I don't rate Witsel but I do like Hernanes, albeit a different style of player. Hernanes deserved more game time last year. Won't get it this year either but he's a good option on the bench.

Thoroughly enjoyed it in here yesterday and nice to finish on a positive note in a window. It's been a while!

Over the moon with our business. Strengthened key areas of the squad and more importantly did not sell anyone we did not want to.

Sissoko at that price would probably not have been my choice but he certainly brings something to the team we did not have before.

Have to say probably the best team/squad in my lifetime (am 35) and can't wait to see what Poch can do this season and beyond.

Thanks to those who run the site and a donation on its way.

Good Morning Everyone...

Started as grim day, developed into horrible afternoon, Thanks to Ali Z - his vague ITK(s) did keep everyone hoping, then @igijedi released Nkoudou & Pau, then late night Daniel Levy pulled few tricks and got us our record signing (o_O:eek:) Sissoko.

It took me 4 hours to read from pages 134 to 179 and what a roller coaster!

I was quite satisfied with the window as it was even without Sissoko. We had upgraded or improved the squad by getting in Wanyama, Janssen, Pau and Nkoudou. And at the same time we moved on Mason Chadli who despite contributing in the success of our recent transition, were not deemed good enough to take us further. (Thank you for your efforts and wish you all the best at your respective new clubs).

Coupled with that we have a new crop of young players to blood, namely Winks, Onomah, Edwards and CCV and co.

So for me getting Sissoko was the icing on the cake

Proven PL player,
French International who excelled at the euros
Pacey
Best fit available for Dembele cover
Wanted to play for the club so will be responsive to Poch's tough training regime and discipline expectations.

In other words the type of player who were were crying out for against Everton, Crystal Palace and Liverpool, in the absence of Dembele this season.

For people on this site harping on about the price tag, what planet are you on? Have you seen the prices being paid for even championship players? Most of you were the ones who complaining about Levy being stingy, but here we have him backing the Manager for a player who he desperately wanted irrespective of the cost and you are still moaning?

It is also well documented that he also wanted Isco and Levy had agreed to pay what Real Madrid wanted, but Isco unlike Sissoko didn't want to come, so why get your collective knickers in a twist? The thing is most on here seem to have a sense of entitlement without realising that Spurs is not the be all and end all for all players, especially if they are already at a bigger club, so we just have to get who we can. We are not exactly Manu or Man City, at least not yet.
So in closing just to say that it has been one of the best windows if not the best balanced one we have ever had.

Big thanks to the ITKers, Trix, JJetset, The Goat, Ali Z, plus Dovahkin the whore!, and Archiebald & Crooks who kept us on the straight and narrow.

See the rest of you on Match day thread against Stoke!

From a very satisfied BSODL!!
Well said that man. Saves me the time of having to post my thoughts on it all.

So what, is so good about this player? I don't remember him lighting up the league. Seems like a waste of money
Just heard him described as a 'one in six player' and that probably sums up what we are all saying. Does little in most games and then plays the odd blinder. Sorry if you don't like my viewpoint but that is how I have always seen him

I've been plenty critical over our transfer dealings in the past and have made the case over and over that we should be spending more than we take in via sales with the CL and PL television revenue. I'm ecstatic Poch imposed his will on Levy and got him to pony up for a player that will help our squad immensely. I've always like Sissoko more than most here, and I think he's actually hit a patch of form that will see him do really well for us. In fact, I'd say I went from thinking the window was middling (loved the Wanyama signing, but badly wanted Batshuayi and Boufal instead of Janssen/Nkoudou) to quite strong.

I think Sissoko's confidence right now is going to be sky high. People forget he actually was playing at a very high level at the end of the season for Newcastle. Benitez even gave him the captain's arm-band with about 4 matches left in the season. I also think his versatility will be key for us. He can play in a CM2 with any of our core 3 midfielders, or can play on the right of Lamela, with Eriksen on the left.

I think both Wanyama and Sissoko are going to end up proving a lot of people wrong. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if in 6 weeks time both Alli and Dier have lost their starting positions to these two. That's a big statement, but it just wouldn't suprise me.

Good Window, yesterday was manic found it difficult keeping up... So skip a few pages lol Did we get the answer to the blue dhalli cryptic in the end. Would be fun seeing one thread with all the cryptic on and their solutions. I'm sure there were a few that were over looked / missed.

Could be a good idea for the next the next window, save people asking, and also know which ones have not been solved..

Great service from all the mods and shores, much appreciated at this time and throughout the year.

It feels like a fantastic window, not only because of the business we did but the way the day went yesterday. A proper rollercoaster ride with the Bipolar fraternity in its element and some cracking banter. At various points it felt miserable or exciting but most of all pretty much all day long it was fun.

I love it when this thread is fun.
As they say over here in Ireland, it was a great days craic :D

Last week I had a deep conversation with somebody who has Poch's ear, for obvious reasons I will not name them.
Poch and Levy agreed to trim the squad numbers and remove the squad players that Poch felt were not of the required quality for whatever reason, this would allow him to bring n a few quality players. With big savings on wages it would also give us flexibilty in the market.
Poch after signing Wanyama and Jansen wanted to bring a quick wing forward, ACM and another CM, to give the squad more depth and options, he believes some of the reasons we failed last year to win the LG, was the poor quality once we had to bring in some of the squad players and the lack of plan B and C as too many players offered us anything else.
He wanted players that he could tweak positions for so he could use less players but never see a drop in quality. He wanted Mane but we could never match the wages offered to him by Liverpool without creating issues in the squad. He then switched to GNK which would have been done 6 weeks ago but for Marsille.
Contrary to rubbish spouted in Media we agreed terms with the player yesterday, Poch tried really hard to convince Isco to come but he said NO as did Coric, who we be back in for but so I suspect will half of Europe.
The only issue with our strategy is the way Levy does his business, but he does have to balance the books.
Poch is happy to move players about so I don't think we will necessarily see a first X1 more a 16 that will be rotated players often having positional changes ie Alli could well be seen at CM/ACM/ or out wide of the 3 midfield. Same applies to a lot of the other players at the club, it will also allow the youngsters he game time and he rates them very highly, he does not like to loan out Kids he sees potential in that he think he can use in the squad, he also believes that he needs to give some players more rest time.
In Poch I trust

That was a great window. In truth, Dele may have to become cover for CM as well as playing further forwards due to lack of cover for Dembele, and come off the bench at other times, but our squad is now much better!

Lloris - Vorm
Walker - Trippier
Toby - CCV
Verts - Wimmer
Rose - Davies
Dier - Wanyama
Dembele - Winks / Alli
Sissoko - Son
Lamela - Alli
N'koudou - Eriksen
Kane - Janssen

Only thing I'm really bummed about is we didn't add a central playmaker. Coric, Isco or Malli would have been varying degrees of fantastic.

True, although I imagine that's on the hit list. That said, if Eriksen doesn't perk up at least we've now got the pacy wide options to give Lamela a go at the main playmaking role.
