That was a great window. In truth, Dele may have to become cover for CM as well as playing further forwards due to lack of cover for Dembele, and come off the bench at other times, but our squad is now much better!

Lloris - Vorm
Walker - Trippier
Toby - CCV
Verts - Wimmer
Dier - Wanyama
Dembele - Winks / Alli
Sissoko - Son
Lamela - Alli
N'koudou - Eriksen
Kane - Janssen
No left back???? Ha ha...

Rose and davies

Just heard him described as a 'one in six player' and that probably sums up what we are all saying. Does little in most games and then plays the odd blinder. Sorry if you don't like my viewpoint but that is how I have always seen him
Said the same thing in the Sissoko thread. Give the guy a chance!
The Sissoko at Newcastle and the Sissoko of Spurs I think will be 2 different animals. Just give him 6-7 games to get used to the way we play. And trust Poch!(y)

Edit: Dont forget Hugo would have had his 2 bobs worth input to Poch as well!

Largely agree with you but it really all depends on your formation. I consider Dembele and Sisokko as alternatives that will partner either Dier or Wanyama. Of course there will be different formations for different games though so it is fluid. Also form and injury will play a part.

Corrected for you, unless we are going to start with 10 every game... lol

In a nutshell we have moved three players on we didn't want and brought in one we do.

Will do a round up at some point today and tomorrow if this section is still here.

It feels like a fantastic window, not only because of the business we did but the way the day went yesterday. A proper rollercoaster ride with the Bipolar fraternity in its element and some cracking banter. At various points it felt miserable or exciting but most of all pretty much all day long it was fun.

I love it when this thread is fun.

This thread should be placed in a special archive all of its own.

High, lows, Levy-time, ITK!!!, Record broken, squad completed, manager backed, spend not anywhere near net. A&C becomes an adoptive BSODL.

Truly brilliant day.

Last week I had a deep conversation with somebody who has Poch's ear, for obvious reasons I will not name them.
Poch and Levy agreed to trim the squad numbers and remove the squad players that Poch felt were not of the required quality for whatever reason, this would allow him to bring n a few quality players. With big savings on wages it would also give us flexibilty in the market.
Poch after signing Wanyama and Jansen wanted to bring a quick wing forward, ACM and another CM, to give the squad more depth and options, he believes some of the reasons we failed last year to win the LG, was the poor quality once we had to bring in some of the squad players and the lack of plan B and C as too many players offered us anything else.
He wanted players that he could tweak positions for so he could use less players but never see a drop in quality. He wanted Mane but we could never match the wages offered to him by Liverpool without creating issues in the squad. He then switched to GNK which would have been done 6 weeks ago but for Marsille.
Contrary to rubbish spouted in Media we agreed terms with the player yesterday, Poch tried really hard to convince Isco to come but he said NO as did Coric, who we be back in for but so I suspect will half of Europe.
The only issue with our strategy is the way Levy does his business, but he does have to balance the books.
Poch is happy to move players about so I don't think we will necessarily see a first X1 more a 16 that will be rotated players often having positional changes ie Alli could well be seen at CM/ACM/ or out wide of the 3 midfield. Same applies to a lot of the other players at the club, it will also allow the youngsters he game time and he rates them very highly, he does not like to loan out Kids he sees potential in that he think he can use in the squad, he also believes that he needs to give some players more rest time.
In Poch I trust
Very encouraging itk- I'm confident we'll pick up a decent CM/ACM threader type player in January. It seems Levy and Poch work well together. Up the Spurs!!

True, although I imagine that's on the hit list. That said, if Eriksen doesn't perk up at least we've now got the pacy wide options to give Lamela a go at the main playmaking role.
That is a really good point about Lamela. We really have a versatile squad

I have to admit that I would still like to have a bit more creativity and pace in the team - i gave up on the window and I didn't even see the Sissoko transfer until this morning as I was sure nothing would happen.

I think we have a few options but we do imo lack a midfielder to line up alongside either Wanayama or Dier to move the ballast quickly albeit it will be interesting to see when Dembele comes back how we do line up. What we do have is a few options now in every position.

CM - Dier, Wanayama, Sissoko, Alli, Carroll, Winks, Dembele
AM Right - Lamela, Son, Sissoko
AM Left - Eriksen, Nkoudou, Alli
AMC - Alli, Eriksen, Lamela, Kane
Fwd - Kane, Jannsen.

Overall a pretty good window - just missing that creative spark, but I am really keen to see Nkoudou in action from a pace perspective and it will be interesting to see where Sissoko lines up. My gut feeling on the first 11

Lloris
Walker, Toby, Verts, Rose
Dier Dembele
Sissoko Lamela Eriksen
Kane

But the interesting thing is that there are some great options off the bench.

@Archibald&Crooks @Rob you and the other mods have done a great job as always. Waiting for pay day and I will donate some money for providing such a great site.

Just discussing the squad here at work. Could we go to 3 at the back, with Dier joining Verts & Toby, and Rose/Walker pushing on as wing backs??
That would allow us to then have Dembele, Sissoko, & Alli in the middle of the park, with Eriksen or Lamela behind Kane.

Dont like the sound of players playing in multiple positions tbh

Specialists bring consistency and are more effective than players doing a job

I stand by my assertion at the start of the summer that our front 4 was hard to upgrade on our budget, we came close to that but I think it's undeniable we have rounded out our options very well with Janssen, the last gasp Sissoko signing and Nkoudou finally being released from cryo-sleep.

Poch has no excuses not to make more impact with subs now, this could go a long way in turning some draws around. He now has a backup striker in Janssen that seems a good fit, and three different options in the supporting three with Sissoko, Nkoudou and hopefully a fit Son. There is such a variety in styles in those 6 AMs like Ali said there is a lot for Poch to play around with and tweak for certain opposition, and importantly rest tired/off form players while keeping the team more competitive. Even with Wanyama he has the option to pack the midfield in big games.

Yes Isco would have been dreamland, but I think Poch will wake up today extremely happy with his squad, and I can't ask for any more than that. Fair play Mr Levy (y)

Club record transfer won't be a back up to dembele. He will play a lot of games in probably a few positions

Sissoko generally plays wide, but I don't doubt he could be converted to play through the middle. We pretty much have VW, ED and MD for the CM positions I guess when Dembele doesn't play we will be less creative and explosive but we have good options now in the more advanced positions.

As far as I'm aware there are no laws against it, so yeah we could...(y)

almost every transfer window. I really thought that getting Wanyama and Janssen in early was a sign of change, and NKoudou has looked done for weeks.. but then, three on deadline day itself.

I get that Spurs can't throw money around, but it gives the impression of either: a lack of planning or a lack of vision. Leaving it to the last minute when Sissoko has been available all summer. If he - or indeed any player - was available, it would have been far more beneficial to have them in for pre-season, rather than 3 games into the season.

I do think we are a stronger side in the end though, but I will also be putting a fiver on Bony to score on his debut next week..

The thing with Sissoko is that there was apparently interest from Real Madrid earlier in the summer so he might have delayed a move until he knew if there was genuine interest and rebuffed our advances much like he did to Everton yesterday.

I think Trix mentioned recently that a few of our fringe players like Chadli weren't keen to leave either so that probably delayed things as well.

Agree with you about Bony. It's been another good window for Stoke.

I remember a few years back the frustration of trying to force your way onto the site, and the slow response time once you got there only to find out we never did buy Moutinho.

It was so much better this window, and the joy to be able to focus on the roller coaster of Isco and Sissoko. The day alone is worth the cash coming you way.
