He has a point though. Yes we are well run financially, but all the successful teams in the premier league (except Leicester) spend big and pay big wages. We might get lucky with Janssen or he could be the next Soldado.I think Collymore is saying that when you buy a big name striker, you buy 25+ goals a season. If Kane fails to find form like last year and Janssen has a poor first season, then where do the goals come from?
Since the EPL formed we have been outspent consistently and our trophy haul/lack of CL presence reflect that.
But we can't afford to spend big and pay huge wages, hence why we are building a stadium so we can do this in the future and then spend more money on wages and players.
We aren't Man City or Man United, we can't just be shit one season and then spend £200M to fix all our problems.
And quite frankly it wouldn't feel good if we did, City can win 100 trophies but people will always know they bought success and didn't work for it, I would us rather work for it, maybe I am old fashioned however.
