And some actually believe we should give him a new contract? Commercial madness as things stand, and go back on my posts I have been hinting or saying as much, just to get neg ratings :shifty:

Fuck's sake - why is it only the Lamela thread which attracts such utter nonsense posts?
It's not nonsense whatsoever why give a new contract to a player who has been injured for lengthy periods with us and whilst available been hugely underwhelming. He needs to get fit and show a material worth then perhaps a new contract.

Underwhelming in your eyes, most fans see him as highly influential and a good contributor. Even if you don't rate him it makes financial sense to sign him up for longer to increase his sell on value.

Performances on the pitch are the key factor in increasing the sell on value ... as along as they remain uninspiring no one will pay big money for him. Beyond a desperate punt by some club possibly in China

Again, why does poch keep picking him after all these uninspiring performances? It couldn't be that he actually brings something to the team could it?

Wasn't he on the bench a number of times before his injury?

A couple of times but other than Alli, Kane eriksen all players are subject to rotation if they're out of form. He played the majority of games last season and started the majority this season but yes, Son started well which forced lamela onto the bench (rightly so as Son was in a rich vein of form) either way, if he was as poor as Gibbs is making out then he wouldn't even be making the match day squad.

I don't get all this negativity towards Lamela, really I don't. I rate his input to the team very highly. Right now, we're doing fine and are on a roll, but bringing in someone like him into the team, would make us even stronger. He creates, he gives us bite in midfield, and he scores goals too. The poor lad has been off injured for a while, but there's no way in hell we should consider selling him off. I think he's a vital part of the team set up, and he gives us so many options, which could be crucial in the overall scheme of things.

Poch says his rehab tKing him to Rome now. Hard not to put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5.

I don't recall him actually getting injured in a game was it training ground incident? Is he homesick? Angling for move? Need some itk to fill in the gaps!

Plus he looks like the keyboard player in a goth band and some people hate that

Yes Chris. I have no idea how to assess the judgements of anyone who'd hate a player for what he looks like. Thankfully, I have no direct contact with lunatics. Personally, if a player contributed as much to the team as Erik, I wouldn't care if he looked like Piers Morgan (actually, scrub that...)

There's been plenty of times when our Belgian players have gone back to Belgium for treatment. It's pretty common for us.

He's recovering with AS Roma so not just in Rome. I imagine whether there's anything more to it or not there will be quite a few stories saying he's moving back there permanently over the next week or so.
