I'll judge after 2 seasons, but there's no denying that, at the moment, he isn't even putting in a good performance, let alone goals. At the start of the season he was playing well but wasn't getting the goals to show for it, but now he's doing neither unfortunately.

I really think he could do with a loan where he is almost garaunteed game time. He needs to play constantly to get fitness levels up and to have a chance of consistent chances to score.

He is not shit but is very low on confidence.. Today was like pulling teeth and even the most patient of us will start to lose it with him eventually.

The problem is even is other attributes were not there today, strength in holding the ball up or bringng others into play. It made him look vey average

His performance was a concern again but I don't think we are helping him that much. He was up against 3 centrebacks and I expect Kane may have struggled. Pace was always going to fare better against their clogging defenders so it was no surprise Son looked a better prospect up top. (In fact Son played there the same way he had deeper all game I though and was more effective as the front man with his runs).

I don't want to come across as defending Janssen at all because I think he's contributing to his own problems but we need to keep giving him chances and I don't just mean in patchwork teams like today but a proper eleven. Although today you could see his confidence draining away.

I was at the game so didn't hear it but apparently Shearer was criticising him. Poch should give Shearer a call and get him in to coach Janssen for a month. I reckon that would improve him.

I agree 100% . Dembele would have been perfect as a young hungry striker that Poch could develop and we apparently negotiated but refused to pay £5m because he was available for free in the summer when we didn't get him anyway. I can only think we didn't go for him because having 2 Dembeles would have been too much for @Bus Conductor. Paying the amount that we did for Janssen made no sense when the Dutch League these days is no stronger than the Championship.
If that is true, then why didn't we try and get him in the summer when he was out of contract?

TBF it don't take a lot to 'vex' SC........Today it was the away fans having the bare faced cheek to sing loudly :woot:

Fair to the villa fans, thought they put our prawn cocktail crowd to shame. We couldn't even be arsed to reply to their champions of Europe chant

The only thing Janssen was good at was attracting excuses from supporters and he cannot even manage that now.

Well I took issue with your early criticism of him believing it to be premature. I said it might take up to a season for him to show his best for us. So I don't feel the need to repeat that every five minutes. I really don't think we've seen the best he has to offer in a Spurs shirt and will continue to support him.

However yours and others criticism of him is looking justified, if anything he's regressed since his initial outings, which themselves were no better than okay and shown nowhere near enough so far. He looks desperate and devoid of confidence and you may well be right that he's never going to be of the required standard.

Personally I'm going to give it more time before writing him off largely because I don't think we've seen the best of him in the shirt but also because that used to be accepted wisdom in football before the age of Twitter and snap judgments.

What's clear is we absolutely must sign a striker in January.

We don't know if Janssen will come good at some point in the future or not, but he's certainly nowhere near good enough to play for us at the moment. So if we do have any pretensions at all of trying to achieve something this season, capable back up to Kane is as much a priority as it has ever been.

We 100% won't sign one in Jan. No chance at all. Son is reserve striker. Did great against city, Middlesbrough

I think the real situation is that we refused to buy and loan him back a year ago, so missed out altogether. For whatever reason by the summer we preferred Janssen.

Doubt either Poch or Levy will be willing to do January business unless a real quality addition can happen i.e. Isco.

The likelihood is Son fills in as striker. N'Koudou should be more involved in the second half of the season so we have some options albeit on the utility end rather than specialist.

Yeah, his confidence is shot and he's hiding from gettting into the box.

It's a shame I still think there is a player in there, but it will be a long rebuilding job.

It would be nice to bring in another striker in Jan - just to show that we are serious about competing on all fronts, but we know Levy and it's unlikely.

Chelsea apparently looking to offloading Michy.
I wonder if we'll revisit it seeing as he was our first choice in the summer?

Would like to see us loan him out to a PL club and bring in an experienced striker who will guarantee goals, we'll need them.

The dream would be swapping cash + Janssen on loan for Rondon. Doubt WBA would want to deal but we need a striker who has pace, power and ability. At the moment Janssen falls short.

Awful, awful player. Worse than Pav, Soldado, Rebrov. The quicker we replace him, the better. Just zero footballing ability and no hunger to take chances when given to him.

Poch has got a very record with strikers still think he can get VJ's head right and scoring. Less than 1000 minutes of football played so far still early to tell.

Loan him out, see what he can do. He's not going to play his way in to form at Spurs, demands are too high now.
