Oh, I agree with your sentiment entirely. Just surprised that he's gone on to the main Man City messageboard, confessed and apologised - better than most in my opinion, and not something I could Imagine West Ham or Chelsea fans doing.......in fact, I'm pretty sure they'd deny all, claim their innocent and then tell us its our own fault for associating with the Jewish community in the first place!
If they all did that on a West Ham or Chelsea forum the thread would be so long it would rival our transfer rumour Leandro Damiao one in length

Did he apologise after being caught = yes.
Would he have apologised if he didnt get caught = no

So he's still a **** in my book.

Whilst it doesn't make what he did any the less racist, he didn't have to go on to the BM forum and admit it. That in itself takes a certain degree of fortitude which I applaud. It also sends out the message that the Old Bill do investigate these issues and, hopefully, may prevent other twats repeating what he did.

True but many have been caught and not apologised.

While we can condemn what he did there's nothing wrong with saying he was right to man up and apologise.

I think there is a differential between people that are racist and those that just want to hurt/upset you by saying what they believe is the most upsetting thing they can think off. I think a lot of opposition fans think singing about the gas chambers or holocaust will piss us off (and it does) and that's the route cause of them singing it, and for a large part I don't think most actually mean what they say but are just incredibly stupid and ignorant.
Absolutely this, my mother in law is prone to fits of rage where she literally just wants to say the most hurtful thing she can think of to the person she is angry at

She's never been married to my father in law and he's had 4 kids with her and 7 with other women (included about 2 or 3 that overlaped with her youngests) so they've not been together in all the years I've known her

But my wife has told me that in the past she has called their dad a black bastard and a nigger on more than one occasion during one of her angry outbursts.

She's not racist deep down as the previous poster said one must be to be able to say such things, she's just bitter about her situation and in times of rage she has said whatever she thought she could say to cause offense/upset to her babyfather

So I think it's very possible that opposing fans could just be caught up in the moment in a crowd environment and join in with a song that is there to offend the rival fans in the heat of the moment without them necessarily being racist or antisemitic

Not to say the offenders were not wrong or that they should not be punished, they should of course.

Most people who aren't British and white will have had some form of racism even from their own mates. I've had it and my background isn't as obvious as some. My brother was knifed across his face random in a bar, the reason ? The person who did it shouted shouldn't mix with Ni***s. Our mate was black, didn't do anything or say anything to upset the guy. Wrong place wrong time..... racist ****.

Wow sorry, I have to disagree with your first statement! So because I am white and British I am not subject to racist abuse.......you must be kidding me! I had a project in Bradford 18 months ago and every single day I was subject to horrible taunts and some serious racial abuse. Specifically remember an Indian guy telling me "you and your white privileged family will die & go to hell for your abuse of us, and I look forward to it". All I did was laugh at the pathetic guy and walked away. Working & living in London I have also been subject to various other things.

So to say that racial abuse is to all apart from White British people is completely wrong mate, and is actually a massive problem because so many others think it. Racial abuse of any kind, to anyone, is wrong its as simple as that.

To be fair he didn't say that white British people will not have been subjected to racism, rather that anyone who is not White British will most likely have

Fair enough, I read it completely differently. The statement "Most people who aren't British and white will have had some form of racism" seems pretty concrete to me in saying what I thought.

Anyway, I am going to stop spamming this thread :) COYS!

To be honest I think the nature of this thread is such that it will always veer off topic. It's about what other fans are talking about, so doesn't really have a clear topic. If they are talking about racism, then we will end up talking about it in here too. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

If the Sunderland or Wycombe fans are talking about something more interesting, then go ahead and post it. Or if there's some deluded crap on Rawk go find it, I'm sure there's some salt worth mining on there after last nights result.

Sunderland fans on this forum have a match thread for our game

http://www.sunderlandmad.com/t16778-sunderland-v-spurs

Looks as those they're struggling with injuries. Shame about Anichebe, I've always liked him.

Hope we beat them, though, don't really rate Moyes, although he should have got longer at Manure. These are the sort of games we need to make sure we put convincingly to bed. After the way we ripped WBA apart, it looks as though we're beginning to get how to deal with that kind of team.

A dog on its own is a household pet, when it gets into a pack it can become a wild animal. This is what happened in effect to this guy. The dog has an excuse its an animal, he has no excuse he is a human being and knows right from wrong.
All those Germans who said they got caught up with the crowd euphoria and were not really Nazis used the same excuse as this guy, they are not strong enough to do the right thing and become no better then an animal there is no excuse.
Actually I think that was an excuse, not every German was put on trial nor for that matter was every member of the Nazi party as I recall. I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiment but perhaps we do sometimes have to consider the possibility that stupid people make stupid mistakes.
What concerns me is that this kind of thing is spreading beyond the usual suspects, why I don't know but perhaps the internet has a bearing.
