If it's the intent of the West Ham Board to make out that they're tough business folk, then, frankly, they're having a laugh. A selection of headlines from the past 8 months...

June 2016 - Premier League sensation Dimitri Payet will cost “ridiculous money” – maybe £60million – should he be persuaded to leave West Ham.

July 2016: David Sullivan has slapped a £100million price tag on his prize asset Dimitri Payet.

November 2016: West Ham expect to retain Dimitri Payet for many years to come despite their poor start to the season, insists joint-chairman David Sullivan.

December 2016 - In the latest West Ham news, David Sullivan is confident that attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet will stay in the January window.

14 January 2017: The West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has insisted that Dimitri Payet will not be sold in the January transfer window.

25 January 2017: David Sullivan has finally put a price tag on the talented veteran, as the club’s demanding no less than 30 million pounds

29 January 2017: West Ham sell Payet to Marseilles for 25 million pounds.

Round of applause for the West Ham Board there. It takes real business acumen to sell an asset you don't want to sell at a quarter of what you valued it 6 months ago. F*** me.

Still, it's not as if they've reinvested three quarters of that £25m on a 33-year-old player Centre Back with no resale value and a 29-year old midfielder from Hull on the back of half a decent season, is it? I mean, no sane Board would do that, would they? Would they?

Payet Thread
Friday
he would've done well to remember where he was before he joined us!

playing for one of france's top teams, with 15 caps for his country?
wasn't doing that bad.

we gave him a boost? sure.
we made him? not a chance.

15 caps and 1 goal for France in his career before he joined us, 17 caps and 7 goals, Euro 2016 player of the tournament, £125k in his 18 months with us! Yeah we made him. 90% of the footballing public hadn't heard of Dmitri Payet before we signed him if they're honest!

A few more posts on how Payet should or shouldn't be going for the same price as Sanchez

Sunday
Payet has screws us.

He signed a whopping great contract, pretended everything was lovely and at the first sign of trouble he basically said, 'I'm leaving' and I don't want to play anymore. Plus, you can't sell me to anyone other than Marseille.

We could hold out for 40m. But what would it achieve. Every month he.s costing us the best part of half a million quid. He's not going to play. He's not going to sign for anyone else even if they were to offer more. Hes not going to be worth any,ore in the summer, as they're is only one club in for him.

Is ****, but it's his fault. Not the boards. He could have just told Bilic that he wanted to go home, but he'll do everything he could to get West Ham the best race. To start a bidding war to drive the price up and carry on playing through January. But he didn't.he sulked and huffed and told Marseille to come and get him.

But we knew that this was his MO when we signed him!

sell the snake 28m and au revoir monseur payet.

Once gone I will remember the great play last season and the goal v boro, free kick against accrington and the rabonna v watford.

shame but we are a better team now from what we were this season.

time to move on.

upgrade in the summer
- er...what?! o_O

So looks like he his on his way to the south of France for a medical.
We get the money we want.
Thank **** he's gone.

Hopefully we can afford Hogan now

Good riddance

Payet has totally mugged off our board and the club. This never would have happened to levy because he would have nipped it in the bud earlier or not made false promises. We've lost out one world class player. Shame really.
- You know it :pompous:

The current transfer figure could rise to £29-30m should Marseille qualify for the Champions League and/or win Ligue 1 during Payet's contract.

Whats the point in that. They ain't winning the league!
Surely we have included a sell on clause. Sully ain't that much of a mug is he?
- No, sure he's no mug :cautious: :ROFLMAO:

Well done West Ham. Spent record amounts in the summer. Bomb out of Europe to a 2bob p**** team, then get involved in a relegation scrap. fall out with the best player we have had since Di Canio - whilst saying he isn't for sale - Then buckle and flog him for less than his transfer value, spending the money on a couple of two bob average 30 year old squad players.

Thanks 'Super' Slav. Nice job numbnuts.
- The negative

And amidst all of this, 10th in the League after a rubbish start to the season with our best player disrupting the team in our first season at a new stadium, not even fit for football. Thanks Slav from me

- the positive

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: - Me

The owners are to blame, as although Payet has lacked class, the owners are selling the West Ham project as class when it's clearly ambitious at best, dishing out class wages and selling us on our stadium being class and not backing it up in their transfer negotiations or bids in fact they are a hinderance.

In the end decent players will behave like ***** if they are sold a dummy. The stadium will only survive being filled on there being a class team on a he pitch and players of Payet's, Sanchez, Hazzard 'class' will ultimately
achieve it. You fool yourselves we can build a decent team but keeping that together especially after any remote success will be near to impossible.

I'm used to decent talent leaving but that was at a stadium made in the mould of our stature, to see it happen at this new one will hurt as other club's want to punish our good fortune as much as possible.

In response to the above
100%

The way Payet has acted (if true) is classless but the whole thing I believe brought on because of the false promises on what we were looking do at the new stadium.

Many of us will be walking away at the end of the season for the same reason

I have a hunch that you are one of those types that wants to fight your fellow supporters when they dont agree with you...
- in response to Mr Negative :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I'm quite sad to see him leaving this way.
I'd rather see him swim the channel wearing a concrete beret with a white flag stuck up his arse.

Im consoled by the fact this wasn't about going to a bigger English club and it wasn't about getting more money which most of haters on here made it about. We just lost a great opportunity unfortunately....god knows why hes gotta go back to France so bad!!!. I don't like the owners at all, but im not sure they did much wrong in all this. I still reckon the frogs would have stumped up more cash for him, but now theres time and no excuse....if Hogan is up to the job, go get him..we lacked the firepower last year to change games...lets ****ing get on with it.....hes gone, the players have to lift themselves and believe at least 8th is possible...the likes of Snodgrass and Hogan ..this is an amazing opportunity.
cmon west ham onwards and upwards
- why yes, yes you will. :smug:

you could say we didn't add the right players.

you could also say that none of those players payet considered his peers were interested in coming to play alongside him.

batshuayi had the straight choice and decided he'd rather sit on chelsea's bench than start alongside his former teammate. lacazette was supppsed to be best mates with him but never gave as much as a sniff that he was interested.
- Christ on a bike! Batshuayi & Lacazette weren't interested in playing for West Ham even though they were mates with Payet... Well blow me over, don't they know what they missed out on?! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Payet's just posted a picture of his private jet on Twitter with the caption "Returning home".

****hole.
- I'm beginning to warm to Payet, he seems to like trolling WHU fans

Fonte, Snodgrass and Hogan... and they want to be considered serious challengers for top-4 in the near future?

Sad....... I really wanted to see him sulk for the next few months training with the youth team. Without first team football his match fitness will drop and when he moves back to France he will never be the player he was.

But.... West Ham caved, there goes my enjoyment of seeing them pay him for nothing.

Oh well... Gotta wait for the next chance to lol at them.

Sshh.

They're fans are starting to realise we know exactly what we are doing.

If their board start taking notice we'll have less to laugh at.

What's the obsession with Hogan? sure he body slammed Andre the Giant but that was 30 years ago.

Maybe Brady heard about the 24" Pythons and thought she could put on a half time show that will keep people from walking out during the first half.
