Koeman comes across as a bit of a dickhead.
He's way out of his depth.

He has handled the situation with Barkley horrendously bad. Instead of nurturing him, he's bullied him and instead of making Barkley feel loved and wanted at Everton, he has criticised him and set him a deadline to sign a contract when he's clearly finding it difficult enough to move after being ostracised by fans of the club he clearly loves.

I'd take him for 10/11m but with a year left he isn't worth more than that. Also he seems like one of those players that is all tricks but lacks effectiveness... Not sure of his stats though

Pochs choice though obviously,

Whilst very open to interpretation, from seasons start until end of March Barkley sat 4th in top 10 prem players to create chances.

He had created 64 in this period. Of course only one player who can sit top of this pile, yep Eriksen on 80 chances created in same period.

Must confess it's not really a stat area that I put a great deal of faith in. Maybe Poch does and he feels he can get Barkley turning these chances into actual assists.

Its interesting - I know a lot of people still talk about bringing in a pacy forward, but I think that will be very hard to find. If you consider from the player's perspective - they would be coming into a team with three 20-goal scorers - surely they must question where they would fit in, and where will their goals come from.

Anyone who is good enough to start, must question whether they can be happy on the bench, and anyone not good enough to start - would they improve a bench with Son and Lamela already on it? Even if we lined up in a 4231 for half the matches - it would still be tough to find minutes.

Higher and better than I thought. Im still struggling with it and him though, just hasn't convinced me whenever I've seen him but I'm not a scout,

We get this sort of thing a lot. Obviously centre forwards will be reluctant coming here with Kane being such a dominant figure but for the forwards behind him, we've seen clubs with stronger XIs than us attract good players despite them having a real challenge to break in to the side.

Obviously good wages help, but the vast majority of players have to back themselves to ge able to break into a side if they are wanted. If you don't have that cast iron self confidence you probably won't make it far at the top level anyway.

Two things stand out - first is the wages - that will be problematic for most top attacking targets, on top of playing time issues.

Second, really comes down to formation - if we play a majority of matches in the 3421 - then realistically, a player is looking at competing with Dele for playing time - and that is just as difficult as trying to unseat Kane. In the 4231 - they are still left with competing with Son, and while many would certainly fancy their chances, most won't take that risk on low-ish wages...so we are back to problem number 1.

We need to find a young player who is working to establish himself and willing to come here to compete for minutes with Son and Lamela - I don't think we will get anyone who is close to a finished product. This will be a World Cup year, and anyone in contention will be looking at playing time as a big criteria - imo.

I think that's why Poch is looking at adaptable players like Sessegnon who could play LB/LWB/LF, Barkley who could possibly play AM/RF/CM. I'm sure we'll get linked with others like that too. Poch really likes players that kind of player.

Barkley is raw and hasn't had a proper coach! look at what Poch has achieved with Rodriguez, Wanyama, Shaw, Dier, Rose, Kane and Schniderlin, I think he could make Barkley into something special. He has the raw ingredients but just needs to be nurtured.

He's also had too many managers. Some consistent coaching and he'll be quality.

If he can't do it for Everton what makes you think he can do it for us? He will have to fight hard to even get on our subs bench once everyone is fit.
By all accounts Barkley got Everton going today when he came on. This smacks of Koeman knowing he can't convince Barkley to stay and getting in a few digs on the player's character.
According to Everton fans, Koeman has either been trying tough love with Barkley since the start of the season but his execution of it has been poor or he has used Barkley as a scapegoat all season. Basically if Barkley doesn't play really well Koeman has been criticising him in press conferences, even if he is still played well and been one of Evertons best players, yet when Barkley plays well Koeman doesn't mention him. Apparently he has been the opposite with Lukaku, praising him when average and above but not mentioning him when he has been piss poor.
