I don't want either Chelsea or Arsenal winning trophies but if it meant we were in the Community shield next season I'd glad pick one over the other

Do you believe we will win a trophy soon or do you believe we won't, just out of interest.

I don't hold out much hope because the prioritisation of the league format over the cups( which represent a far realistic opportunity at success) is still at play. The disconnect between the respective formats is clear to see. And there is an imbedded qualification culture at the club, it's been there for years and it has been hugely damaging. When a club does not make silverware its priority then it comes as no surprise when it doesn't do that, it doesn't foster the necessary culture for success. The club has been good enough to win a league cup, FA Cup or UEFA since 2005 and yet has only won one of those trophies since then. When 2 hugely talented Tottenham sides as we have seen this decade cannot secure silverware and not even come close to doing that really then questions should be asked about the strategy at the club. But seemingly that is a taboo subject.

It's not taboo, you're just wrong.

Manu and arsenal have had a better 2017 than us. Trophies are what it's about. I'm more envious of manu than arsenal though.

That's not me throwing our season down the shitter, just stating facts.

I think because some average teams like Leicester, Wigan and Birmingham have won trophies over the last few seasons people just assume that we should be winning them as well. I wouldn't trade our second place over 38 games for a cup other than the Champions League but I'd want to see us win it in style unlike the Chelsea side from a few years ago.

So this season a club built on the suffering of others won the league, a club playing anti football won the Europa league and a club that everyone banters because of their toxic fans won the FA Cup.

When we win something it'll be because we did it the right way and playing amazing football.

I couldn't care less who won that match. I hate both clubs. As far as I'm concerned the Chelsea racist thugs failed to win the double , the deluded Arsenal are in the Europa League finishing 11 points behind us and maybe Wenger gets to stay. I'm happy with our season and our future.

Royally pissed off.

We've had a great season and still all I can think is 'Spursy' at best, or @Hazardousman conspiracy theorist at worst

When 'success' is in our grasp it always is snatched from us it seems, and it's hard to accept. I'm absolutely gutted

Who else has ever had a squad full of players poisoned with dodgy lasagne?
Who else would be denied a champions league place by a much favoured team who had the benefit of playing a final in their own stadium?
Who else would spend almost the whole season ahead of the usual suspects, to be pipped to the title by some inbreds?
Who else, having finally finished ahead of their 'local' rivals, would still end up with less trophies and therefore less bragging rights than them?

I've always been one of those who is not remotely convinced elite sport is at all honest. A team sponsored by the competition sponsors has won 3 out of the last 4 competitions? Hmmmm. When the dominant champions don't turn up at all against an injury hit squad with a double on the line? And have a player sent off for a dive, yet same player, stadium and offence and somehow a penalty is awarded, by a referee that has had previous with us in the exact same fixture and venue 5 years ago and shouldn't have even been appointed by the FA. Completely unfair, and typical that the goons should get the breaks we don't, yet again. When Costa scored I said to the missus, goons will score straight away, there is absolutely no doubt about it. Call it ESP, or something fishier, certainly call it spursy, as well as utterly shit defending.

What's more, why do certain teams and players only turn up against us? Hazard really hates us don't he? He was disgraceful today, he'd completely given up on the game way before the end. Kante is almost unbreakable for 2 years and then that? If that was sissoko we'd be apopletic on here. In fact, Sissoko has never been that bad for us, not by a long chalk. Against us, he'd have been everywhere no doubt, sprouting wings and all sorts. Part of me really thinks the Chelsea players phoned it in to embarrass us, they've had success this season and know they won't be called legends by their mates in the media.

It's certainly not the community shield, nice though it'd be it is a glorified friendly nothing more. It's that for the first time since I was 14, I've been waiting to keep those gooner mouths shut and have some bragging rights and that feelings the wind is changing. I'd rather win something than come 2nd without a trophy, as impressive as that is, and i'm feeling that we are the laughing stock and the poorer relation yet again. Sick of it. This feels worse than Newcastle last year as I felt then we'd fuck it after the Soton loss at home. I was convinced Chelsea would beat those horrible gooner pricks.

And they've done my acca, was on for near £200. Fuckers.

Are you serious or is this a wind up post ??

That's a good answer and I would not argue with the sentiment entirely, certainly over seven or eight years following 2005, I'm pretty sure I have argued to make a cup the priority, particularly when Europa was the only possibility, but where we are now is a different level, we are no longer upper mid table, we have for the last couple of seasons been building and consolidating our position as title challengers.
We aren't where Chelsea or City are yet where we can successfully prioritise all competitions, I am hopeful though that this phase will develop and over the next two or three years we will be able to do that and so that will be the acid test for us.
The simple fact is that we have been in semi finals and finals over recent years we have just been unsuccessful, as for not winning much since 1991 well to be honest with ourselves, we were absolute shit for an awful lot of it and since then we have been improving only steadily.
If there is an imbedded qualification culture at the club then I think we have to say that if that is the aim then we have been successful and they do say that success breeds success.
I also know that the reason we are now taking flack for "still not having won a trophy" is because there is very little else they can throw at us anymore.

I would rather win the facup and come fifth than come second.

It's not like we are going to win the champions league anyway.

I'm still immensely proud of our season, football and team but the game is about glory. Second isn't glory. Winning cups and leagues is glory.

You can believe all want, the facts are we haven't won any silverware in decade and teams that finished well behind us such as Manchester United have won more in 12 months than we have in the PL era despite having an inferior side. We have just seen a mediocre Arsenal side win the FA Cup with a depleted side but that doesn't say anything about is though right?

Now what is odd is that the ire is actually directed at those who draw attention to this rather than at a club who has an an abundance of talent but isn't delivering on this with regards to silverware, especially when a number of Inferiour sides are.

Oh fuck up pal.

Your "drawing attention," as if you are providing us with an epiphany, is a bullshit excuse. You're no supporter, you're a glory hunter in it for the bragging rights... At best.

At worst you're a troll looking to wind up Spurs supporters because you're not one.

whilst the rest of us see that the club is BUILDING towards a sustainable legacy, you want silverware RIGHT NOW so you can give it the biggun.

While we want what the likes of Utd and Chelsea have/have had, you want what Leicester got.

I dream of us being the biggest club in the World and can see that the only way to achieve that is getting up there with the elite.

I also realise that in competing with the elite, at this point in time you are more often than not going to fall short. That realisation doesn't equate to an acceptance, it doesn't mean I, or any others of like mind, have an inferiority complex, it simply means that we realise that we're only part way into the journey.

It's people like you that have the inferiority complex. You'll settle for any trophy so long as it gives you a chance to brag NOW, because you've convinced yourself that we're going to fall away, so better to get what we can now.

I want trophies, lots of trophies. I want my club to be dominant on every front. I want every team we play shitting bricks before a ball is kicked. I want the mindset changed from "Lads, it's Tottenham" to "Fuck, it's Tottenham" every time they see a fixture list.

If I have to suck up the odd glory day for our rivals in order to get that wish then I'll suck it up. I sucked up relegation in the 70's, I sucked up seeing the goons win titles at our place, I sucked up the Scholar debacle and the atrocious '90's. I sucked up "Lasgnegate," being the only team to finish 4th and miss out on CL and I'll suck up a lot more to see this club where I BELIEVE it belongs and is headed.

What I will not suck up is glory hounds telling me that I or the club has no ambition when everything before my eyes make the lie of that.

So, like I said earlier, do one. Everything about you screams glory hound. I'll hazard a guess that you have mates/colleagues who follow the likes of Chelsea and Utd. You've felt embarrassed when they've ribbed you about the trophy count...

And the only reason you haven't jumped ship yet is because they'd embarrass you even more.

As an outsider looking in then you are right, they have won something(s) and we have not but as one of us looking out we can see the significance of this season, it has been absolutely massive.
We have established ourselves as not only a CL club but also as valid title challenger, last year has been shown not to have been just a fluky one off, we have put ourselves firmly on a higher level, none of which are the point, the point is that that all shows the massive improvement of our team over the last three years, would I give that up for a trophy? No I wouldn't, would I like a trophy over the next three years? Yes I would and I bloody well expect at least one too.

I wouldn't . The FA Cup is not what it was . Managers get fired when that's all they achieve. That's why most teams put out weakened line ups until the semis. Like it or not today it's all about playing on the big stage and unless and until winning the Cup gets you into the CL or at the very least the Cup Winners Cup is revived winning the FA Cup is no better than winning the League Cup. The magic of the competition has gone much as they try to create it on the final day. The only thing I would say that maybe getting 4th and into the CL qualifying round is not much different than finishing 5 th and winning the Cup. In other words you could argue either way whether Arsenal or Liverpool had a better season , but between ours and the Goons there is no comparison.
