Spurs must be smarter than 50/50. It's time for that now.
Signing ANY player is a gamble with hundreds of variables playing their part.
Just because you keep saying that needs to change is unrealistic and bordering on deluded, some will be hits, some will be misses.
I'm not sure why you keep struggling with this concept, its the same at every club because no club can predict the future.

What manager has a better track record at signing quality players - while maintaining a neutral net spend?

Even teams with unlimited budgets make bad signings...

So if the ITK is still focusing on both Barkley and Lemar, is the expectation that we're after both, or is it an either/or?

Not suggesting they're similar, only that they're both notionally AMs (I happen to think Barkley could end up deeper, but anyway...) and I'd be surprised if we were spending a huge element of our budget on essentially one position.

That they have different preferred feet is obviously helpful. Any views?

Every other club in the league wishes they were as good at transfers as us.

Thing is, I agree with both you and @yankspurs on this one. We are good at plucking youngsters out of situations and getting the best out of them (Dele, Trippier, Davies) and we are also very good at identifying talented players with contractual situations that could be beneficial to transfers (Toby, Wanyama, possibly Barkley)

However, there have been some real clunkers on the way too. Fazio, Stambouli, GKN and N'Jie, and of course Sissoko.

Some work, some don't. Poch is a great coach, but let's not all pretend that he doesn't have his faults.

At the end of the day though, if Poch really wants a player, then it's great that he's getting as much backing as possible, even it turns out it was a bit of a blunder.

Sometimes it is difficult like Batshit... we dick around with transfer amount and get brush aside by Chelsea for wage. We end up with Jansen...

I'm genuinely curious if this narrative has in any way been proven true or if it's a story that people have taken fragments of and pieced together to fit their agenda.

Janssen scored more than bats last year. Just sayin.

If no-one comes in and only fazio, njie and nkoudu leave i'd be happy.

There is no agenda but as reported by news outlet and piece together by some snippets from ITK.

That was my impression... might had been wrong. If I go further, the deal with Sissoko is quite close to Batshit deal.... just comparing and wonder what would had been the outcome last year if we had Batshit.

Eh? Only mods/admins can move posts. I know how I can do it. There isn't a way for him to do it and I'm not spending all day moving posts for people who've posted in the wrong place.
I know that Rob. It was just meant to be banter, honest.

I really don't think he did. Unless you're counting Holland internationals

Not counting pre-season Janssen scored 6 for us last season in all competitions. And also provided 4 assists.
Michy scored 9 goals last season not counting pre-season and PL 2. And assisted 3.

So really, it's not like there's a big gap between the two based just off of stats. Internationals are not counted in here
