He struggles against anyone with pace who can dribble, not just the Hazards and Alexis's. For the first time in a long while, I feel we will be starting the season with a weaker first 11 then we did the previous year.

You may need to rewatch last season's home NLD game again ...

The money will be spent but we won't be signing an expensive RB, Trippier just signed a new 5-year deal and is first choice. We will sign someone to cover Trippier though, the FBs will continue to rotate throughout the season. I expect zero net spend again this summer. We are building a new 800m stadium.

Nobody leaves the club unless Poch says so.

50 + a few other fringe outs still allows for a very good RB + RB + Pau and some youth

Wasn't there other information that Pereira has a low release and may even go cheaper than that. He's also younger than Trip with no Prem experience.

If a first choice RB is 50m, then Pereira at 15-20m is about what you'd expect to pay for a 23yr old backup from Ligue 1.
Shit, are city in for him then?

It will be disappointing to start the season selling a player for 50m and replacing him with a young inexperienced replacement.

Money isnt everything is it ; We started 2014/15 with 26m£ striker; he got us 1 goal; But we were rescued & thereafter propelled by a academy player, isnt it ?

Trust Poch - Atleast when it comes to full backs , he knows what he is doing. There is not a Full back, he hasn't improved in his PL career.

In todays market? No. We'll probably have to pay around the bentley fee of £17m. While just a few years ago was our record fee, its cheap in todays market.

Pereira, Barkley, Pau, possibly another first team CB then Foyth and maybe that kid from City. Walker and Wimmer out. Probably end up at a net zero, maybe even profit.

It is cheap by today's standards but levy likes to go cheaper so I expect that 4-5m will be what the club will spend on a replacement.

How many "top" wingers are there? And, how many of those "top" wingers beat us last season?
Virtually all of our league rivals have wingers who play primarily off the left who I would not trust Trippier to be able to contain. Hazard, Alexis, Sane, and Martial would all be very difficult for him to cope with. Mane can also play off the left and I would be surprised if Klopp didn't try to target Trippier. Not to mention the top clubs we could come up against in the CL.

I agree. Martial alone cut in twice from Trippier that I can remember in the WHL game and narrowly curled one wide. Our last home game could have been quite different if they went in.

Both of those cut in & top corner came against Toby. Martial did get the better of him for their goal.
But same time, Our last home game against Arsenal too could have been different, if Trippier had not contained Sanchez so well...

Whilst Perreir might come in as No 2 if he comes, at 23 in a year or so he'll be up to speed with the Prem in a year or so & he'll be in a good position to push to be the first choice.
This makes sense to me.

If we're not spending net then by selling Walker that just leaves us with money for a RB, Barkley and Foyth probably. I think if we're going to sign a forward then that's going to depend on whether we shift Sissoko, Nkoudou and or Janssen.

Poch turned a 17 year old Luke Shaw, into a £30m Left back in 1 season, in new money that is £60m or more I guess.

KWP has the tools, is all I'm saying.

Personally happy to add the money further up the pitch, if Poch believes in KWP.

Barkley & a 3rd striker or a wing forward is where we should spend well IMO. We really need options in bench to turn the game.

To be fair, if not Pereira i'd rather it be Walker-Peters than anyone else.

I'm actually more concerned about us buying a couple of decent attacking players. Depth in attack is probably our biggest problem.
We do seem to have a blindspot for buying in talented attackers. Kane was home grown. Alli was a box to box CM when he arrived. Eriksen has come good and Son has come good both over time.

Chadli you could argue was useful. Struggling to think of who else in attack we've bought who is actually decent...

Depends whether you count the Njie, Fazio and Bentaleb money which will have coming from those transfers becoming permanent. Plus would expect Sissoko to definitely go, probably late in the window. Could be the best part of £80m.

Agreed, it's somewhere in the ballpark of £30m for the loanees and Carroll (16m for Bentaleb, 6m for Njie, 3m for Fazio, 5m for Carroll). Add £50m for Walker and £15m for Sissoko, and we could spend nearly £100m and still break even. That's not even taking into account that Wimmer and GKN could go.

True, but if Wimmer goes i'm not sure Foyth alone would be enough to replace him. We'd need another centre half or a left back with Davies covering LCB in that case. I reckon if Wimmer's off we'll try to get Mawson in.
