The money will be spent but we won't be signing an expensive RB, Trippier just signed a new 5-year deal and is first choice. We will sign someone to cover Trippier though, the FBs will continue to rotate throughout the season. I expect zero net spend again this summer. We are building a new 800m stadium.

Nobody leaves the club unless Poch says so.

I fear for us in the CL and in matches against the rest of the top six if Trippier will genuinely be first choice. He gets exposed whenever he's matched up against a top winger, the difference when Walker came on to mark Martial at the end of the season was absolutely night and day.

Wasn't there other information that Pereira has a low release and may even go cheaper than that. He's also younger than Trip with no Prem experience.

If a first choice RB is 50m, then Pereira at 15-20m is about what you'd expect to pay for a 23yr old backup from Ligue 1.

How many "top" wingers are there? And, how many of those "top" wingers beat us last season?

What I don't get, is how did our interest in Lemar fit into this whole net spend ideology that seems to be coming up again. He was never going to be cheap, and Levy would know this from his supposed attempts at signing Martial.

Seems to me, as others have said, we will pick up a right back, not sure it will be Pereira, maybe one or two youth team players and have a last minute attempt at signing Barkley. Hardly feels inspiring.

Martial got the better of Toby & Jan too that day. People who quote Trippiers bad moments against Martial, forget how well he did against Sanchez in the NLD. Trippier played against him so well that day.
Trippier isn't the best defensive player but he is not the worst either. Poch put the trust in him end of season; We won all the 6 PL games Trippier started last season.

If Trippier is first choice , am not against it. But we cannot rely on KWP, just yet, to back him up. We need to get another RB in the window.

Whilst Perreir might come in as No 2 if he comes, at 23 in a year or so he'll be up to speed with the Prem in a year or so & he'll be in a good position to push to be the first choice.

He struggles against anyone with pace who can dribble. For the first time in a long while, I feel we will be starting the season with a weaker first 11 then we did the previous year.

Perreira not considered expensive?
In todays market? No. We'll probably have to pay around the bentley fee of £17m. While just a few years ago was our record fee, its cheap in todays market.

Pereira, Barkley, Pau, possibly another first team CB then Foyth and maybe that kid from City. Walker and Wimmer out. Probably end up at a net zero, maybe even profit.
