I think Poch has chosen end product over speed, if we can bring some speed in as a replacement we'll have that option back.
I think what we saw at the end of last season was not just Trippier building confidence and putting in more great crosses but also our forwards responding, they began to expect more great crosses into the box and started making the runs in.
With Kyle they tended to hang back because they knew he wasn't going to play that ball so I am still optimistic.

Sad reading bluemoons forum and what they are saying. Whatever his faults he is still the best right back in the league and I always felt a lot more confident with him playing over tripper.

That said, I hope tripps continues to develop and I'm glad we have him to step up

I have always preferred Trippier anyway. Maybe Pep has been blinded to Walker's limitations by his sheer pace. But then again if KT is as good as KW, why isn't anyone desperate to pay £50m for him?

You could make a case that Trippier is more of a Guardiola FB than Walker. He's technically better, much more composed on the ball, and makes better decisions in the final third.

Dani Alves, Lahm and Alaba feel like typical Guardiola FBs to me, ball playing, intelliigent and composed. At Bayern, Lahm and Alaba often moved centrally during phases of play, something I can't imagine Walker doing.

I'm not saying Trippier is as good as those three but, of our two RBs, his skillset is closer than Walker's.

Trippier also doesn't have the pace of Walker to get him out of trouble defensively, but this doesn't seem to be something Pep is particularly concerned about. The painfully slow Kolarov appears to have been his favourite FB last season.

Then there are Guardiola's famous comments after Shitty lost 4-2 to Leicester:

"I am not a coach for the tackles. I don't train the tackles. What I want is to try to play good and score goals and arrive more, so what's tackles?"

It seems that Poch sanctioned Walker's transfer and Levy got a good price, so I wish Kyle well. But it'll be interesting to see how and if he adapts to Pep's highly methodical and techical style of play.

The writers at ESPN sums up my feelings about this transfer perfectly:

"Trippier is a downgrade

There's an ongoing effort to rewrite history by some Spurs fans, who've admirably convinced themselves that Trippier finished last season as first choice. Yes, Trippier started the FA Cup semifinal and the emotional matches against Arsenal and Manchester United, but only after Walker's head had been turned.

The former Burnley defender has started 11 league games since he joined Spurs and four of those have been against Watford. He's never been first-choice because he is not as good as Walker. Given Pochettino's talent for coaching players, particularly full-backs, Trippier will probably improve, but the rest of the Premier League was terrified of facing Danny Rose and Walker, and it will not be the same now."

And if Juventus now signs Perreira - what will Poch feel? What will the other players feel? Write it up any way you want, the fact is simple:

Our squad is weakened; Man City´s is strengthened.

I don't believe a word City say about the price, seems the PR department is working overtime with the media. With us trying to buy replacements and city with a reputation to protect, slightly bumping down the fee to the media would be logical.
There's no point in City lying. It is what it is.

Honestly guys why are we knocking Kyle Walker he has been amazing for us and we should wish him all the best...

In my view we need a replacement who is equal or better than Tripper and I'd prefer sone one quicker and stronger as I watched him struggle against the pace of Martial and in the recent International's.

If u play with the ball all the time pushed up, then having quick athletic full backs is a pre requisite. Walker is a good fit for pep and city as he was for us. Time will tell if trippiers lack of speed and size will be covered for by the midfield and cb' s.

Why should we wish a player at Manchester City, a rival of ours, 'all the best'?

In isolation the loss of Walker is not a huge negative. But combined with Son , Rose and Lamela missing the start of the season and our move to Wembley which can hardly be seen as a positive for next season and our lack of activity in the market while our rivals have all strengthened it is hardly surprising that many fans are worried. With the wages we pay and our settled first team we are not going to make any marquee signings even ignoring Levy's reluctance to pay the big transfer fees for those signings and we are only going to bring in squad players which is fine as long as they are upgrades on Wimmer, Sissoko, Janssen and Nkoudou.

Lloris
Dier Alderweireld Vertonghen
Trippier Dembele Wanyama Davies
Eriksen Dele
Kane

Remains a strong starting team but other than Winks and Onomah in midfield where is our quality cover in other areas ? Signings need to be made because we are already weakened as a group by the loss of 4 key players from our group.

Trippier is a lot better than people think,ok doesn't have walkers pace , but is a better all round defender , in my eyes for what it's worth .
The bit in bold was the only bit I was saying was BS.
