Reading through the Onomah thread on the Villa forum, there's a Villa fan talking like he's some kind of Onomah expert, saying multiple times that "his best position is the 10 or on the wing" or that "he can play in any of the attacking 3 positions behind the ST" o_O

was close to signing up to their forum so I could tell him to go buy a fkn clue.

We got a good team, and a great manager, but I don't think any other club is looking at our transfer activity as something to aspire to.
I don't want to spend more money than anyone else, but not bringing in any players for preseason because our chairman is frugal as fuck is nothing to shout about imo.
I need the buzz of a new signing. To me this transfer window has been a huge let down, and even if we bring in players from here on out, missing out on a Poch pre-season is huge.
I still think most clubs are laughing at our transfer activity, or lack there of.
Who cares what others club's fans think.
*ironic I know, this being the 'what our apponents fans are saying about us' thread!

More so if the player is expected to slot into the first XI, but we don't need that. I don't think the pre-season is such an issue this time around.

I guarantee we will spend money so we shouldn't paint this picture, the media haven't anything better to do but stir up stories. We all know whats going to happen its our policy to bid late and thats whats going to happen.
Exactly whats going on...and there are Spurs fans falling for it

I think we're also getting a lot of affection from some of the neutral and more moderate fans at other clubs, as we seem to be seen as somewhat of an exemplar of what and how a proper club should be run. I think an awful lot of fans are fed up with the money clubs ripping the heart out of football, and would be keen on us to show that it can still be done organically (and just want the cash to be shown up).

Special mention to Southampton

A new thread to discuss what our opponents fans are saying about us.

If you want general chat about other teams, you can do that in General Football.

Grammar discussion welcome.

@nicdic would it be possible to edit the op to link some other teams fan forums? I know the likes of bluemoon and rawk etc... but trying to find some of the other teams are a bit more difficult. Been looking for newcastle but the only sites i can find seem to have hardly any members.

Understand if you don't just thought it might be an idea. Cheers.

Not really directly about us: https://www.toonforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8945

Honestly looking at their predictions for their starting 11 we should be beating these, I've never even heard of some of their players. They dropped points in 8 home games last year in The Championship as well.
Forget about their predicted line-up, we should be beating them because they just got promoted from the Championship and we just finished 2nd in the Premier League

From Arsemania:

I find it interesting that Spurs lack of transfer activity has gone under the radar.

If by 'under the radar' he means constantly being brought up on SSN and written about in articles in all the newspapers and on the BBC, then he's spot on.

Re: Newcastle United Vs Tottenham Hotspur - 13/08/17 @13:30 - Live on Sky

Blind optimism. Dodgy Spurs start to season. Nervy 1-0 for us.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We smashed them on the way out, and we will smash em on the way in.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rarely a dull game against this lot. 1-1 but with plenty of chances at either end.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a shame that there is no pressure on Spurs, to bottle it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do Spurs have any fit first team players remaining?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If it's the same Spurs team that played yesterday and missing trippier, we have a chance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1-0 (Sissoko o.g.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Think we will win 2-1, Don't think we are in bad shape and think the players will be out to impress first game. Going to be interesting to see how well set we are for the season.

The squad is quite balanced and we actually have the look of a balanced team with a plan. Relies heavily on Shelvey, Gayle and that back 4 to give us a chance

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4-0 to the lads

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We usually beat Spurs so we'll probably lose.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They've won here twice in the last 10 seasons we've been in the PL.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can't see us getting anything if I'm honest. But I do expect a promising performance from whatever team Rafa puts out.

I just think Spurs are going to be after us for the thrashing we dished out last time. It could set them up for a good season TBH. They might have worked just that little bit harder in pre-season.

It could also be the reason that so many are seemingly injured, too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think Spurs will be ready or at least not at their full powers.

Crikey, they're cocky aren't they?! Hope we pin the 2015/2016 results on the wall and set about putting those right. We're a different animal.

Crikey, they're cocky aren't they?!.

It amazes me how many sets of fans think they'll give us a beating. They could be 18th and with only one fit defender, but when they play Spurs it's "oh we'll beat these easily." Last year our opponents regularly said that we had a porous defence, or that Eriksen/Alli/Dembele/Kane could be marked out of the game, or "just give them all a kick early doors, they'll give up instead of fighting" and of course the number one favourite "they're legends". *

So many people don't seem to realise that things change, and that we aren't the Spurs we used to be. I know it's permanently the 70's/80s in Liverpool, but surely everyone else should have noticed that we're actually really quite good nowadays.

* Watford fans are always saying they'll give us a stuffing, but that's a running joke and they can be discounted. But I reckon we'll see plenty of "Spurs are shite we'll stuff them" from lower or mid-table opponents this year too.**

** Fuck off West Ham. Maybe if you played the other 36 games like you do the 2 against us you might actually not be lower or mid-table. You'll still be shit though. And ****s. Always ****s.

Fuckin hell they're confident.

You wouldn't think we just finished second in the premier league.

I expect a tough enough fight from.them, and they'll have a loud atmosphere behind them, but a professional performance from us should see our superior quality prevail.

Our lads will remember what happened two years ago and will do everything they can to make up for it. I hope.

Newcastle have an above average record against us they have in the past inflicted embarrassing defect on us a few 5,6 score lines I can understand their optimism... They are sometimes a bogey team.

Whichever team has Sissoko normally wins, that's why Poch is keeping him around for an extra week.
