We're like that creepy **** you see in da club, waiting for one of the girls there to get drunk enough to find us attractive.

We just don't have the financial clout to push these deals through so they hang on a thread where someone else can always swoop in ala the Willian deal.

It all comes down to the money, whether it's rainy or snowy or sunny...

He was just on Sky Sports and looked a bit sheepish when asked about transfers numerous times. He didn't exactly sound worried but did reiterate a couple of times how you need players to push on those already in the team.
That's the most important thing. Players need competition to improve. We need son, Erikson dele on their toes and pushing each other not getting complacent

Sorry my friend but that's just not true. We have plenty of money. We're just not prepared to spend it.

I don't disagree, can't/won't, either way amounts to the same and that's not changing any time soon so this will continue to happen as we can't/won't force deals through with offering the money to make it happen.

It was probably that Juve came back and managed to strike a deal with Lazio. They already had bids rejected and this is what opened the door for us to sign the player. I'm sure if Juve never upped their bid then the signing would still be progressing.

I'll probably just drop watching this thread after the news. This is really not as big of a team loss as I think it is a personal loss for a lot of people on here. Betting odds for him were slashed last night which means a lot of us took JJ's words and acted on them rather then recognizing that they were not what we thought they were. By the time he got there most of us were off in our imagination land. I still think KBD is exactly the sort of player (on the pitch) we need, and I hope our alternatives are of that skillset.

That or the guy (this was my life) who sits chatting to a lovely lady for ages only for your mate to talk to her for 2 minutes and leave with her.

I find it pathetic that people find our transfer business acceptable, and have the gall to call those who actually want transfers in before the season starts pathetic, bed wetters, meltdown artists. We have the money, we have the clout, we just don't have the balls.
Patience is a virtue, but this blind devotion to the transfer departments shenanigans is embarrassing. You don't have to react but don't defend them by belittling other more concerned posters.
This transfer isn't even the worst, no rb before the season starts now that's truly unacceptable.

I think you're right - the "party line" from Levy is that we are going to be careful, with a new stadium to finance and no Sugar Daddy to fund the sort of spending we're seeing. He then adds as a side note that no players we potentially want are "too expensive".

But I think in reality that last bit was to appease the fans. It may/may not be true that the board are willing to sanction big money moves - what's clear however is that Levy wants Pochettino to continue his work on the Academy and bringing through youth.

It's a long way to win a title but after Alan Hansen's famous "You can't win anything with kids" quote, what's the point of youth players if you don't work to improve them and utilise them?

Personally I don't think we will win the league until we have a better income stream and buy bigger, but I would rather be proven wrong and see the likes of Onomah, Kane, Edwards, Winks et al. help us lift the title.

I can only speak for myself, and in fact I agree with every word you are saying to be honest. I just personally believe that this specific player is nothing to lose it over.

I'm sure Poch is more disappointed in the player than he is of Daniel Levy. At least we tried to bring in a player the manager seems to have wanted. The player chose someone else. Transfers are far more complicated than people make them sound.

The trouble is when you have a side as good as ours it gets tougher to improve particularly on a budget. At least we're missing out on Balde and not King. Our targets are obviously of a high standard.

I presume from the negativity from the ITKs that Keita would prefer Juventus to us and that it's not simply a case of him having to decide now? I'm not entirely sure they could blow us completely out the water wages wise.
