hertyid on rose: Doesn't mean he will leave. But if he does it will be on our terms and for a lot of money.
It sounds like the club have changed their stance slightly after his shocking interview. If we really have to do this I wouldn't sell for anything less than 60m.

NOT FOR RO but as of last night we have not tabled a bid for Barkley
Thanks for the info! I wonder how significant this is, surely we'll only table a bid once we are fairly sure it will be accepted? Looks like this will be a deadline day deal as a large portion of people have already predicted...

Well, not having tabled a bid for Barkley isn't overly encouraging...

If we are hoping to get him shouldn't we at least get the inevitable derisive opening offer out of the way so we can spend the rest of the window haggling?

Considering how positively we should be heading into this season, this place is going to be toxic if we do anything but continue our end of last season hammerings on Sunday isn't it? Frustrating.

Well, the ITKs have. They'd be pretty silly not to considering Rose has just come out and said how much we suck.

Not tabling an official bid doesn't mean that a deal isn't agreed in principle, right? Not knocking the info, just digging for a positive

As of now we have the same starting XI that we finished last season with superbly plus Lamela coming back plus all a year older and wiser. ITK points to 3-4 coming in.

We've not wasted money in a well over-inflated market and our players wages are low basic but high on bonuses.

I can't see a problem. If we start motivated and do well I'm sure contracts will be improved.

I can't see any reason for the doom and gloom unless you are overly-sensitive to the Press negativity.

Absolute joke really. Just the 2 months considering making a bid and weighing up an offer.

That said teams can negotiate without official bids.

[positivespin]The itk is looking pretty depressing at the moment but if we manage to comfortably beat Newcastle on Sunday, I'm sure the mood will lighten up slightly when people realise we've got a fucking great team anyway. Plus, we still have 3 weeks to make 2 or 3 good signings and the itk's have hinted at the fact our business will be late as always so nothing too surprising going on (apart from Rose being a bit of a ****). Yeah wouldn't read to much into not having tabled a bid for Barkley. In this instance, the club want to sell, the player wants to go so I'm sure any deal can be brought along a lot further in terms of ascertaining player interest, wages agreed etc etc without actually putting in an official bid

We know he wants to come to us. No need right now unless another club bids - continue to let the clock march down and increase our position of strength.

I have no dea what we're trying a achieve with this transfer strategy.

Seems incredibly flawed to me.

There is absolutely no reason to sell Rose. Who cares if he said a bunch of nonsense? Spurs sell him and it's just going to invite three more players to do it during the next window. Walker was a different case because Poch probably wanted him to go and favored Trippier anyways. Poch knows that Rose is superior to Davies - if we sell Rose, it will be a strong signal not just to the rest of the team but to Poch that Spurs isn't willing to compete at the highest levels. No way does Levy make the sale this window, at any price.
