Yeah but when we do, they are spectacular...Ardiles and Villa, Klinsmann, VDV

But still extremely rare. We get talk of these kind of transfers every year, and rarely do they ever come off because of how complex the deals are. I'm just warning people to be cautious, chances are nothing will come of it.

Reading this thread it's almost as if nobody has gone through a transfer window before.

People get as high as Snoop and as low as Flo Rida (that's right...I've got early 2000s RnB references) and seem to forget that almost every window ends somewhere in the middle of the road...like....ummmm....Usher?

Game changing player itk is a timeless tradition of the itk thread.

It at least proves that the club is ambitious in the transfer market; no matter how ambitious we are there is always another club flush with cash who are willing to blow us out of the water.

Balde seems the obvious choice if Juve have pulled out, but has seemingly been dismissed, but this late in the window things change rapidly!

Martial doesn't seem a realistic deal with nobby in charge at Utd.

Breezers ITK about a South American could be Moura, and possibly very likely given the PSG situation, Hercules mentioned a game changer and seemed excited about the player, this guy fits the bill!

That's my ITK based onions.

Game-changer transfers rarely come off for a club like Tottenham. I wouldn't get all worked up only to be disappointed, happens far to often as a Spurs fan.

It's been that way most of the time because they're so difficult to do, for many reasons.

However, there is no denying that our trajectory is much more upwards these days and the Tottenham landscape has changed remarkably:

- Competing for the title with some of the best players in the league
- An exceptional manager/coach who has undoubtedly progressed, in some cases even transformed, players careers
- Not to mention his success at developing young players
- A state of the art stadium on the way

Obviously wages is a big factor in attracting top talent but looking at the bigger picture I don't think it's anywhere near as fanciful as it was, even 5 years ago, to think about signing a worldie.

Remember two years ago, at one point it looked like we were signing 4-5 high impact players, can't remember their names, but it was in addition to Son and Toby. Even A&C said that he would become a BSoDL if that were to happen. We ended up with a few great players and Clinton.

Things change and it's highly unlikely that everything pans out. I just enjoy the ride.

To paraphrase one George Costanza, this thread is is back baby! It's been a very slow summer and at times this thread has seemed pretty redundant. Great to see things are hotting up now, some top bants as well. Well done people

I dont know why but hercules and gards' bits about a no go game changer than could now be a goer have me thinking back to the piece of itk from earlier in the summer about a move that could happen but not this summer. Probably me reaching desperately but it was the first thought that popped into my head and well, i've convinced myself its happening this summer.
Who was it?

This thread went mad! Hadn't been on since we announced Davinson. Cheers Gards and Hercules for the exciting info. Hope it comes off.

I've seen supposed leaked wages for the PSG lads and all are on €100K pw or less (Moura on €80k) so could be just about doable.

With Palace in for Burke either him or Zaha would make sense.

Martial would be the dream but would I can't see Jose allowing it.

The problem we have is that yes we can sign a worldie but our rivals do not want us to sign one. Our rivals also have the means to blow us out of the water, however, the club obviously knowing this are much better at keeping information a secret. This is encouraging to say the least as we do compete for a worldie and may even manage to sign one, but we have to be sneaky about it. :ninja:

No net spend for years. A worldie is possible but...no net spend for years. Not gonna happen.

Our wages are actually closer to top European wages for the non-superstar players than before (see Rose/Marcelo/Alaba comparisons), we are becoming a bit more visible and have a highly rated coach, our issue is getting in on players the other top PL teams want, as it's like they don't even try and negotiate agents down on wages.
