And you can bet Mourinho will do the same

They both have the experience and quality of players to do just that.

Our first eleven are SOMETIMES as predictable going forward as night following day. We need altetnatives becsuse at the very highest level we struggled to break down a depleated side who were stuffed at home by a team of cloggers last week.

We miss Walker and Roses pace massively. It's ok without one of them, without both we just aren't the same team attacking wise.
Not in this game. Chelsea blocked off their third of the pitch for most of the game. What space would they have run into? The only opportunities would have been when Dier went off and they had a spell of coming out at us

For every one who see we dominated today - its because Chelsea let us dominate them. Its like watching Stoke vs Arsenal. All those possessions. But not created 1 clear chance. All our best effort came from 30 yards out, including Kane's hit of post.

Chelsea fully deserve this because they simply executed their plan well. Just the kind of defeat, that will be hard to recover from.

We need pace to come from somewhere to be able to take advantage of the open space on the big pitch. With both Davies and Trippier playing we don't have anyone who can run into space unless we drop one of Dele or Eriksen for Son.
It's not even that. The last time we beat them we beat them with Rose & Walker. Neither really took part in either of our goals that game. But what they did was stretch Chelsea's defense out and prevent them from packing the box like they did in this game. It gave Erickson, Alli, and Kane more room to work with. Just the threat they provided on the wings opened the game up. We just don't have that right now.

The thing I hate the most about losing to Chelsea is that you never come out of the game feeling like we deserved to lose (E.G. Liverpool last season). They always win my "moments of magic" or lucky bullsh*t goals.

Looking over the last 2 seasons at the goals that we've conceded to Chelsea they were:

  • A 20 screamer from Pedro
  • A deflection in off a shot from Victor Moses.
  • A free kick were Lloris stupidly started going the wrong way
  • A penalty from a obvious dive.
  • A 20 yard volley by Eden Hazard that went through about 7 bodies.
  • A 40 yard belter of the crossbar by Matic.
  • A fucking amazing free kick by Alonso
  • A jammy goal hit straight through Lloris.

It's just so ridiculous and it's the thing that always makes me feel the worst coming out of a loss V.S. Chelsea.

Today wasnt even that bad? We played better than any game we had there last season, we just conceded a great free kick and a silly sucker punch trying to put Chelsea away. It hurts, but theres no need for overreacting imo.

The reaction is precisely because this wasn't the Spurs of old.

We're finally at the stage were we can utterly dominate Chelsea in both possession and shots on goal, and yet they still manage to come away with the win (which, on balance, they deserved).

& make no mistake, this was a Chelsea in crisis. DAVID LUIZ started in midfield, along with Bakayoko making his PL debut FFS. Their back 3 was fucking Aspilicueta (who's a right back), Rudiger aka bambi on ice, & Christiansen (who?). They are without Hazard, Costa, Fabregas (who always dick all over us) & didn't have Pedro on the pitch until the last 10 minutes. The atmosphere at the club is also as toxic as it's ever been given Costa's antics and their ridiculous melt-down last week.

There are times for calm analysis but if ever there was a time to play Chelsea it was fucking now, and we blew it big time. I think we're entitled to feel a bit frustrated while still recognising we're a club on the up and moving in the right direction under Poch.

You'll get shit for that and whilst I do want this team to have a winning mentality with 5 minutes left and having only just equalised it's sometimes better to just smarten up and make sure you don't give the opposition any space. For that goal about three of our players were in no mans land which allowed Alonso to slip in behind.
This is my issue with Lloris today: his distribution often puts us in a weak position, but that's usually with his abysmal kicking and not his throws. Then, he goes with his hand when he would have reacted faster with his feet.

Next 6 games for Spurs
Burnley(H)
Everton(A)
Swansea(H)
WestHam(A)
Huddersfield(A)
Bournemouth(H)

Plenty of chance to turn it around. Great chance to win next 3 home games to make Wembley a better place to be for Spurs fans

Today proved that Dier and Poch have agreed that he won't play CB ever again. Not that it would've made a difference but was very surprised we weren't playing 3 at the back considering how it worked against Chelsea last year at home.

Wanyama needs game time to get sharp, Dembele was motm today. It'll be very interesting to see if Dier starts CM next week.

While you may be right. I don't recall a single moment in that game where I thought "if we had more pace, we'd have scored there". Chelsea had a game plan, defend deep and be organized, and that's what they done. Apart from a couple of moments when we were 1 down, they didn't open us up or really get in behind us

Wanyama was awful. I thought that Trippier and Davies looked like small boys out there, not powerful enough to compete physically in big games.

Dembele was brilliant and had it not been for an injury, he would have cut off Alonso.

Couldn't see it properly from my end of the stadium but just watched their second goal now. Lloris has to save that. Awful goal keeping.
