I'm going to be disappointed if we let him leave after just one season. He's still pretty young and I would like us to see if he improves this season like I think he will. If it doesn't work out, then we can just use Son up front for another rotation option if we don't sign any other attacking players.

Not that I rate any of them that highly, but they have all shown the ability to trouble defenders and score goals a this level, Janssen has not.

Bet you were one of the idiots writing Lamela off after one season weren't you, you miserable old moose.

Janssen frankly deserves a second season - if that doesn't work out then so be it

Janssen is still young enough to turn it around and for all the talk about Pochettinho being this great manager coach able to improve player, why are our own fans wanting to get rid of Janssen doesn't make sense. He is a Dutch international who had a brilliant scoring record in Holland...If you look at his performance level when playing for Holland you can clearly see he's talents. As mentioned above it will be very difficult to improve on Janssen playing squad rotation we don't pay the wages.

Janssen needs to score a couple of goals from open play and he would be challenging for a starting place, he is a Mark Hughes type of striker imo Janssen has a high ceiling with great potential.
No offence, but I seriously doubt that if Janssen scores a couple that he'll be challenging Kane, unless I've badly misunderstood your post.

I really don't think it should be outside our wit to sign a striker who can score goals in the Prem. We pay up to 100k in wages (or thereabouts) and have everything else going for us as a club, minus a piece of recent silverware. Are we really the only club in the PL who can't get a reliable back up striker?

I still think there is something worth persevering with here and would only ship out if we were replacing with a significant upgrade - not another punt, I'd rather give our man some more time and opportunity.

I've still not seen a genuine name suggested who would be affordable, gettable and willing to sit on our bench.

Quite frankly, one of the dumbest posts ever made on here. Get some actual football knowledge.

In theory its not that daft. Hernandez would score more goals than Janssen. He's already got as many this season as Janssen managed last season. Carroll is a great striker on his day, the only problem is that he only has about ten days a season. Ayew is a former African player of the year, but not really an out and out striker. Sakho seems as injury plagued as Carroll.
Personally I think Janssen deserves another season, but I can't really see how he gets a chance in the side if Kane stays fit. We aren't going to play him in the Champions league, so he'll probably have to make do with substitute appearances and cup games again. Hopefully he'll get a goal or two early this season and can push on from there.

Must be very confident of getting a replacement/upgrade in. I had hoped he'd come good, but Poch's clear reluctance to use him when we're chasing a goal, suggests there's not much faith there. Looking for a killer goal today, and Poch turns to Sissoko, not good. Could've bought Janssen on and played Kane just off him.

Surely already an iron in the fire if this happens then, that's interesting.

I want him to stay for sure, think our squad is too thin as it is but after our first 3 games where he's barely been on the pitch, would there even be any point in keeping him?

Really don't think Poch has faith in him.

Would hope any replacement is secured prior to letting him go, squad is thin enough as it is, without letting him go and failing to get a replacement over the line.

And I remember giving my serious concerns even before we signed him. And this was Poch's choice, full out. He is not even cutting it in training.

Time to cash in then while the market is bouyant, the only problem is can we get a replacement?

If benteke or origi is the replacement, what would be the point? We need a pacey wing foward. Who is a game changer
