I can almost feel the collective will from the rest of the fans in the country for us to get smashed this evening. I think they will be left disappointed.

Good.

Liverpool fan at work wants us to win. I think its only the London rivals who really want to see us lose. Oh and that tin-pot small man syndrome midlands club.

Every other London club will be wanting us to get smashed by 5 or 6, I think the majority of people in this country outside of those that dislike us as a club because they are direct rivals will be wanting us to win.

Let's face it, we are the underdogs and we have a big English core in our team and for many it's satisfying seeing a team like Madrid get beaten by a club with far less resources, just look at Leicester and how the country reacted to them and the support they got.

Not representative of the city fans I know. The vast majority of whom remember the 3rd division and used to use blue moon to arrange a drink and check out whose kids were playing well in the little league. The money brings in the twats but they don't replace the real fans.

Levy could sell to a billionaire butcher tomorrow and we'd be inundated with hundreds of Gibbs in a heartbeat. These days a few glory hunters and a scummy owner are the norm and no reflection on the fans.

City have always been a proper club.

Chelsea have always been scum; their owners and new fans are irrelevant.

Agree. I grew up in Manchester and I'd say within Greater Manchester it's fairly evenly split between Utd and City and it always has been. Utd just have loads more fans outside of the local area. There's a lot of people (in particular southerners) who try and make out like City were a nothing club until the money came in but that's just not true. OK they didn't have the trophies but they've always had a big following, even when they were down in the lower divisions.

Fuck that mate, winning the league the way we our now would absolutely smash the feeling of us winning it with an open cheque book.

No comparison. I'd rather we keep doing what we're doing as we keep getting closer. No wembly factor this season and we'd have even better chance this season as well.

I would like something between the two models. I would like us to keep getting players in the manner that we are, but be able to pay comparable wages to the players that are deserving. An increase of $40 million a year would ultimately mean far more, I think, if spent on salaries instead of transfer fees.

Our net spend is usually zero. Do you want us to sell £40m more than we spend but put the money on wages?

From Arsemania. The first post is from an American gooner, oh and a Real Madrid fan too:

Proud Madridista here, hope we win tonight #HalaMadrid

Kane will want to do well tonight so as to impress his new club for next season.

Ha, I hadn't realised Spurs were playing RM.

Kane & Llorente not getting a sniff in this Spurs set-up

Navas saves a Kane header from a corner. Great save.

Kane is extremely strong, he just barges through defenders.

Reckon Real’s quality will tell but Pochettino has done a fantastic job at Spurs.

He's a top class manager. Great appointment by Spuds

Spurs are doing well tbf, although the difference in quality should win it for Real..

0-1

Oh my god. Kane to Madrid confirmed

Can't even say that's undeserved, they've held into this game nicely.

Looks more like an own goal to me. Annoying, we need a Kane hat trick so that Real take him and Potch next season. Hopefully some navas howlers so they take De Gea too.

Kane doing very well in his RM ‘job interview’ today.

1-1

Aurier looks a calamity defensively.

I know it's a stupid challenge, but that still looked like a dive.

Rate Spurs highly but still think Real will end up winning this comfortably. They’re just a level above. Although they’re defending a little complacently.

Spurs holding their own.

Glad we boycotted this year

Lloris save from Benzema

**** off Lloris

That miss makes me ashamed to have to wasted a significant portion of summer 2015 waiting for Benzema to sign

Why aren't Spurs getting tonked by RM? Not fair!

They need Alderweireld to go off. Losing your best CB at 1-1 against a top team is how you get thrashed in this competition, I've heard.

LLoris is having the game of his life!

Kane chance

Kane bottled it!!

Kane you fraud

Dude's been tapped up , didn't even celebrate properly first goal .

The media is going to be all over Spurs tonight. Argh!

Would be a surprise if Spurs don't make top 4. Their only flaw is their depth. If they sort that out in January, top 4 dogfight is going to be intense this year.

As lucky as they are to get a point at Madrid, they have looked very well drilled.

The American gooner, supporting Real Madrid fan:

**** you Real Madrid. Gonna buy the DVD of this game when it comes out so I can enjoy Kane's miss again

Cant see us holding Madrid to a draw.Spurs just are better these days, what a horrible thought

Think Spurs just need one win now to guarantee going through.

They're a very solid, well put together football team. The amount of work Poch has done behind the scenes to create that is amazing. He's made us look ridiculous in comparison when we're on two or three times the budget. The Arsenal players and management staff should be ashamed of themselves watching what they've done the last two or three years and how they've been over taken.

Spurs and Atletico are just those teams that have almost everything to win big things, but always fall short.

Spurs released the DVD yet?

Both moving into new stadiums, both Argentine managers. Just plain science at work :D

Spurs completely held their own and easily could have won. Standard of the PL is much improved vs. the past 5 years or so.

Very true. It helps that Madrid are in a bad run of form but sickening as it is to admit that is a very talented Tottenham team.

Not sure I can post much from their awful forum going forward. It's been polluted by tons of ads and is a nightmare to load and is a real chore to visit it now. I even tried using my ad blocker and they block you from accessing the site. Horrible, horrible, shitty, website. Thank God Rob doesn't do this to this forum, would be unbearable.

I'm just waiting for them to realise that we've more or less dropped Borussia Dortmund into the Europa League to face them.

Still they've got good form against German sides in European competition. Oh no, hang on...
Be so damn funny to see another German mob come and take over the Emirates...that was a great night.
