Going back a bit - Nico Claesen. Back when foreign signings were still an exotic novelty, he joined after the '86 World Cup where he helped Belgium to 3rd place (take note Toby, Jan, Mousa). But despite fans hoping he would be a big success, he never really established himself. Kind of the Soldado of his day. According to his stats scored 18 times in two seasons though, which is certainly a lot more than I remember.
Claesen was actually a cracking little player, but Pleat only played one up top while he was here, and Clive Allen was banging them in so Claesen never got much of a chance. Thought he'd only played about a dozen games for us, so those 18 goals do come as a surprise!)
