Genuinely concerned. Vultures with deep pockets are circling.

:(
Oh ffs. What’s the actual point in building a great team when it just gets picked apart.

Kane must be looking and thinking the same

I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that he'll leave at the end of either this season or next. I just hope it's outside of the PL. I really don't fancy us trying to get past him when he's playing elsewhere.

Unfortunately I think Pep and City are the team that would most love to have him.

Its why I was hoping they'd get Van Dijk

I thought the club were rumoured to have made him an offer back in the spring. Circa £70 000 per week.

Then it was reported (rightly or wrongly ) that Toby wanted parity with the club's top earners circa £110 000 per week allegedly.

Add to this the enigma of this buyout clause he's supposedly insisting on and Hercules' opinion that this renawal is not as simple and straightforward as many believe.

Conclusion. Alot regarding this new contract and the terms being offered and requested by both parties fall into the realms of pure guesswork by most of us (myself included )

I'll reserve judgement until it has all unfolded, then allow myself to be immersed in the blame game.

He’s as good as gone imo, been clear for a while, I said when the bit about him wanting a release clause came out it just sounded like an excuse to not sign a new contract

Plus we signed Sanchez for a massive fee. That was very unlike us.

Selling him would send out all the wrong signals. More than selling Walker.

There are a few player which we HAVE to keep.

If, as reported he’s asking for circa £100k p/w, then I think that is completely reasonable and still below his true market value. He could go to City and pick up £160-200k at the drop of a hat.

Do it Daniel.

I expect he's being offered more in the £250k a week region by other clubs.

The problem we face is levy could suddenly blow the structure and offer him 150 - 170k a week, but even then it would still be well short of the 200k+ city can offer. We like most clubs can just not compete with these oil riches.

I would be gutted to lose him but he’s 29 in March and if someone offers £100M then levy would have to seriously consider it. I’m basing that figure on the VVD fee btw so may be a bit toppy.
100M £ for a 29 year old cebter half??

If Toby goes this summer then i will never wear my super strong Alderhairweld gel again as a protest to the club.

We need to keep hold of him or at the very least sell him abroad so those Oil merchants grubby hands get nowhere near him.

Selling him would be a cruel blow. He’s the best CB in the prem. I’d be genuinely gutted.
My initial thought as well especially after his first season.

But now no. Not without Vert beside him. Similarly, Vert is not the best without Toby beside him as well.

If we don't offer top dollar or trophies
then we have to give him something else.
Love is the only thing I can think of
and of course team spirit, camaraderie, training facilities new stadium,
Belgians to the right of us Belgians.....
nice manager though not too nice.
Some clubs have some of these but not necessarily in the right order.

if Heineken did player pampering...........probably...

But when Corbyn gets in, soon please,
and tax on earnings over 10p a week goes up to 80%.
then it won't be worth changing clubs
and all the mercenaries will bugger off to Spain.
Tories out and problem solved.

Happy New year.

I proper love the Chicken badge and always will but all the money in the game just makes me disillusioned with it all, its like i read “X player is only being paid 110k a week” and i actually sit there and think that aint on Spurs pay up etc and then i sometimes sit there and crunch the numbers and it blows my mind.

Whilst most of us struggle (married with 2 small kids) these lads are getting a mind blowing amount of money each week and are worth ‘100m’ and if im being honest i have clean forgotten my point so in the spirit of modern football.

Facking sign a proper expensive baller Levy you bald slag.

I'm more worried in a way that he goes to Liverpool. If Klopp actually sorts out their defence, with their attacking threats, they could easily be fighting for second. Leaving us and the Goons scrapping for the higher Europa League spot.

And if Rose goes as is strongly rumoured, that's only Jan left of last season's much vaunted back 4.

Maybe that's why we went all out to get Sanchez and Foyth; Toby has told Poch he's not signing a new contract, so we've acted to minimise the damage in advance.

I am sure that DL is on it but we need to get creative here. I have said in several threads that on top of the new deals the majority have signed they should have been given a clause saying 30% pay rise at Xmas of the first year in the new stadium.

Toby may well have signed that by now as it might have meant 100k then 130k this time next year.

In his case we are now over a barrel slightly with the remaining contract length. I would say offer him 3 years on something big but not our top possible line (say 125k) with another £5m loyalty (about 30kpw) if he is still here at the end. Plus a buyout of something silly like £70-£75m (he is better than VvD but 3 years older but records are being broken every 5 mins). If he went for silly money at 30+ it wouldn't be the end of the world

It's a risk that he remains fit and in form but only a bit more

Any thoughts on who we could realistically replace him with? Foyth has no experience, CCV doesn't really look the real deal. I know we were previously linked with Mawson.............haven't really followed his exploits at Swansea, so I don't know how he's doing, although with the amount of goals they are shipping, I'm reluctant to suggest him.

I thought City were keen on Jonny Evans. Surely if they go back for him, he won't want to stay at Pardew Bromwich Albion.

I wasn't aware that Toby told poch he wasn't signing a new contract I thought the issue was one of a release clause which he and the club could not agree on.
