Or a lower first payment with more coming when he's proved his fitness.tend to agree - but if a nominal fee could be agreed we should be interested

Watch him going to Chelsea and sidelining his career. Should stay at Everton until for the rest of the season IMO.Watch Barkley go to Chelsea for a pittance and be fantastic for them.
Makes absolutely no sense for him to move in January from his side. Probably cost him £10-20m sign on plus World Cup place.Watch Barkley go to Chelsea for a pittance and be fantastic for them.
The most sensible think for Barkley is stay at Everton secure World Cup place and leave in summer.
Come on mate, we all know Levy's MO. Of course he'll say say, "no", if it means it saves him money. Realistically, do you think he'd spend even a nominal fee on Barclay now, when he's available for free in the summer; that's not how our great leader operates. No doubt we'll have some spin about how he's still injured or how we have reservations about his long-term fitness in order to deflect from or justify this position. I feel that this ship has sailed, unfortunately, which is a shame, especially as all the ITKs seemed to be agreed that this was the player that Poch really wanted.Do you really think we'd shy away from a player we want because he's a month off being match fit? We will do a medical(again) to cover any underlying long term problems of course but I don't see even Levy saying no no no we want you ready in January, February is too late for us why don't you toddle off to Chelsea or someone.
Would it be a big gamble with the price he should be available with 6 months left?
Anyway it is what it is and something which is pretty normal for us to miss out on our targets
£40M plus for players in January is not the way we do business. I hope there is some truth in the Malcom rumor but I know there isn’t.
We should be all over players that are out of contract in the summer though. Checking in on players like Barkley & Goretzka is just the smart thing to do.
Barkley has been training for the last few weeks so coming into jan he will be fit. Maybe not match sharpe but surely for £10m we take that to get a poch number 1 target rather than losing him to another club. The price being bandied about is 10m. In football terms that's small fry but in the real world 10m is a serious lump of cash. We've got a massive project going on in the real world and I'm pretty sure Levy would rather use the 10m to realise part of that project than flip a coin on Barkley's fitness. It also makes more sense to keep hold of that money to spend on a player who is fully fit, which might be Barkley (in the form of wages) in the summer, or somebody else. Abramovich might flip the coin but I don't think Levy will.
Obviously we’ll get the normal deflection if we miss out.
Re Barkley. Originally we were under the impression he would be back in training end of November early December due to a couple of setbacks it took longer. We wanted to be sure he was fully fit before signing him which means the Summer now. Barkley is desperate to go to the WC and knows he needs to play in order to do so, and that means moving now. Put those two together and that means it's very unlikely to be to us.
I don't know what the surgery was to be honest but my understanding is that it wouldn't be a big money signing.
I would also question how often does an injury end a player's career, with very few exceptions it is a bit of an urban football myth isn't it?

That's an insane approach to the transfer market. For the sake of a few million and a few months we walk away from a young English player who was desperate to come to us. He turned down the Chavs for us ffs.
Talk about bad faith...

Did a poll on twitter 85% think Zaha would be behind Son in pecking order. And remember Son doesn’t even get in team in a 343 . So £40-50m for a bloke that’s 2nd reserve makes no sense.(without even mentioning Lamela which I reckon would be about 50/50)
