Llorente leaving makes sense big wages uses up a space in the champions league squad is not really of much use to us.

Ideally we need an English striker As his replacement

Why not?

Son will play there and with Moura it wouldn't make us any worse off on the flanks.

I think we might bring someone in, but hardly a disaster if we don't imo. Llorente is useless anyway.

What happens if Son gets injured?

if poch plans on playing son at striker then its a bad move imo, he is much better playing from the left, should we sell llorente we need a striker, not a makeshift one.

Really don't think we should bother having a backup striker unless it's a young development one. All that happens is because they don't play they lose sharpness and most importantly their form and confidence goes. It'll just be a never ending cycle however good the back up is, a player can't stay in form and offer much if they're only getting 15min sub appearances.

Just bulk up the number of attacking mids, Son acts as backup ST. If Kane and Son were out id rather have Dele as a false 9 with 3 mobile attacking mids behind him than another completely out of form/zero confidence striker.

To be fair, at least he puts in a shift.

I'll support him if it is him but why not just bring up Sterling from the academy who will work hard aswell or just get a striker who's good and works hard

This would just smack of "well he scored against us so let's get him"

Why? They'll rarely play as they can only play one position. So when they do come in they'll be out of form. There's no point.

You mean what happens if Kane and Son get injured?

Pretty unlikely i'd say. There's only so many players you can have in the event of injury.

You could say the same of our rivals. What happens if Jesus and Aguero get injured? What happens if Morata and Batshuayi get injured? What about Aubameyang and Lacazette?

In sum the answer is, yes we'd be fucked. But it's not worth just getting anyone in to be backup. We'd be fucked having to start Llorente too because he's not very good.

IF it is Rondon, he would certainly be an upgrade on Llorente, but its pure speculation atm, well find out more soon im sure.

I'm surprised we are willing to give up on Fernando only 6 months in, we usually aren't that quick with strikers when it comes to offloading them (e.g. Soldado & Janssen)

We seem to be getting worse and worse when signing strikers, but then realising they are shit more quickly......

Not sure if that’s progress of some sort, but it’s certainly not a great endorsement of our transfer policy.

its not about who we bring in as a replacement, its about the possibility of son being left out the team because he will be seen as the 'second striker'

He can change position mid-game, I believe.

True that it might just be a case of selling Llorente and that opens up another spot in the CL squad for LM. Although Herc did say we wanted one more in this window. It’s all kicking off now!

I honestly feel we should be looking at the lower leagues as far as this is concerned. Can’t do any worse than Soldado, Jansenn of Llorente can they?

That doesn't make sense. It's like saying we wont play dier in midfield when the defenders are fit because he's a backup defender.

If @The Goat really does mean Llorente, I'll be quite sad. I was genuinely excited that we signed a guy with 15 league goals the previous season, still at a good age, with pedigree at the highest level both at club and international level, to play second fiddle to Kane. On paper it seemed very shrewd, so if we're giving up on him so soon it'll be a crying shame. That said, he has been awful so if we are able to erase this mistake with minimal damage and fuss then that would seem sensible.

I'm on board with Llorente going. Pure panic buy because we didn't get who we wanted last summer. Use that money towards more dynamic players in the summer.
