2 of my best mates are Liverpool fans, both say we at least deserved a draw or on the second half performance all 3 points. I think that they are the exception to the rule. Both also said the pen decisions could of gone either way on any given day. Im going to have them both stuffed and mounted on my wall...

I keep thinking what if it was the other way round, if exactly the same thing happened but in Liverpool’s favour, how would SC react? So to understand their reactions, I put myself in their shoes for a minute but ended up stealing my grandma’s purse and headbutting someone in a nightclub.

I assume you now also have a vast collection of hubcaps?

The Liverpool players must be feeling like they've gotten off scot-free for what was a well below par performance in the second half. It was already 1-1 by the time we got the first pen and missing that pen gave them a lift in a half we had totally dominated. A moment of individual brilliance by Salah almost won it for them but ultimately they should be examining their own surrender in the second half not searching around for scapegoats be it the match officials or Kane, or Lamela or The Premier League, or Sky etc. etc. They have by far the most points lost from winning positions of any of the teams in the top 6 and it has been one of the defining features of Klopp's time at the club. By shifting the narrative to the penalty decisions Liverpool and their fans are ignoring what's staring them right in the face. They're deluding themselves.

That doesn’t sound like something a Liverpool supporter would do, sorry but I believe that might be fake news.

It's really quite simple, and I am annoyed that some pundits (particularly Jenas and Lawrenson on MOTD) do not understand the rules of the game. Sky pundits seemed to accept it more quickly even if they did not agree with it.

1st Penalty. According to the latest offside rules Kane was onside. Personally I think that the current law is a total joke, and would be furious if we conceded a penalty in the same way, but it is written in black and white and the same for everyone. The only debate about the first penalty is did Kane dive or was he touched by their GK. Personally I think Kane made the most of their GKs naivety and went down as soon as he felt the GKs fingers brush his foot.

2nd Penalty. As clear a penalty as you will see. Their defender booted Lamela very hard in the back of the leg without getting anywhere near the ball. Yes it was clumsy. Yes it was not deliberate. But this was a £75M central defender clumsily wiping out an attacker in the penalty area in the last minute of the game. If Liverpool fans want to get angry they should get angry at their defender for such a poor piece fo defending at crucial time. If Dier had done that at our end a lot on here would have daggers out for him today!

Special mention for the referee (clueless) and his assistant (very brave and clearly knows what he is doing - I look forward to seeing him referee). Unfortunately for Moss, the pitch side camera overheard their conversation for the first penalty. The assistant was spot on with his comments and was almost having to explain the rules to Moss, who did not seem to have a clue what the assistant was going on about. He ultimately made the correct decision, but his comment of "I don't know... I'm giving it anyway." was unfortunate and will only fuel the bin dippers feeling of being hard done by. If he'd said (in response to the assistant's prodding) "The defender clearly kicked the ball, so I am sticking with the decision to award a penalty." he would be lauded as a strong referee who knows the rules of the game. For the second penalty Moss clearly did not want to give another controversial penalty and only the assistants persistence in flagging brought him back.

I think that's an unfair reading of the officials conversation about the first penalty. Given that Moss has given the penalty, he needs to told categorically that Lovren didn't touch the ball to overrule the decision. The official has said he doesn't know, Moss has said he doesn't know, but that isn't enough to revoke the decision.

For the second I'd say it takes balls from the ref to back down and bow to the assistants clearer view. That's strong refereeing not weak. A weak referee who didn't want to give a second penalty wouldn't have let the assistant overrule him.

Slightly detatched, but the Liverpool fans getting pernickity about Lamela on or offside, should have a look at VVD and Karius at the taking of the first penalty. By the letter of the rules, the penalty should have been retaken.

39 year old work colleague went to an all new meltdown level today, this one must have really hurt them. I think he was on the verge of tears at one point. I wasn't even on the wind up!

Wow. Some people need to get a grip and realise it's just a football match.

I genuinely think that was the best linesman's performance I've ever seen in the Premier League. Guy deserves plaudits for holding his nerve surrounded by indignant, whiny Scousers. Pool fans are annoyed because the rules were enforced correctly? Very odd.

I’ve been to see hundreds of live games over the last 30 years and it’s very rare for a linesman to actually take some responsibility for anything other than an offside decision.

Usually they just take the “nothing to do with me guv” attitude, even though the crowd know they would have seen something.

It was brave, but should be the norm. After all, they are ( or should be) as aware of all the rules as the referees.

It's all tickets and travel on Newport County forum, so pretty boring.
Although they had this thread (with referee decisions discussion filtered out):

Run them into the ground. A few red cards wouldn't go amiss either.
I'm not sure I want a defeated Tottenham team, with lots to prove, coming at us on Wednesday......
But then I'm not sure I want a Tottenham with their tails up either.
Kane just missed a penalty
And then scored one.

Dele has previous for diving very good player but an out and out cheat which is why a lot of people dislike him hope the game is settled fairly on the night win lose or draw, and Kane is a brilliant striker who would probably walk into any side in the world.
I reckon the LFC fans will have T-Shirts printed up & have a minutes silence on the 95th minute of every home game from now on.
<- that last one's by yid resident on The Exiles forum

I think you need to look at both as mutually exclusive. Both are incredibly sad and you can't blame the fans from Heysel for what happened at Hillsborough. Nobody goes to a game to kill people or die themselves.

They are both completely different incidents but a lot Liverpool fans love to play the victim card whilst conveniently sweeping Heysel under the carpet. Their fans were an absolute disgrace that night and Juventus fans suffered and died because of Liverpool fans violent behaviour. Hillsboro was a tragedy, Heysel was animal behaviour and yet you'll never hear them mention it.

Why would they? No club would.
