He started all three of the Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal games recently, and both Dortmund matches. It's not like he's benched every time we have a big game.

Knowing Juventus have to score does potentially swing it Son's way, but I doubt they're going to go gung-ho, they'll most likely be patient and cautious to begin with.

Yeah all big games, but still League/group games and not CL playoff. The difference is huge between those games and a CL playoff against Juventus. Imo you can even feel how special it is as a fan when the CL hymn begins. There is a reason why every player talks about it as something special. I don’t think Son would be happy to sit out both games.

Well he didn't completely sit out the first leg and even if Lamela starts on Wednesday I doubt Son won't play at some stage.

Why Lamela vs Son? Honestly, I’d play them both, and leave Alli on the bench for this one. Bring a fresh Alli and Moura on if we end up needing goals.

No way Poch will drop Dier for Victor in midfield. Given Victor is nowhere near last seasons form he is right to keep picking Dier. Sonny has found his shooting boots again but I still think Poch will go for Lamela as he is brilliant at pressing the ball. We’ll beat them by doing what we did at their place and denying them the ball. If we lose it in their half we hunt them down and get it back. Maybe there is an arguement to start Sonny ahead of Dele but it won’t happen. Same team to start minus Aurier.

You do know that the Goalkeeper cannot wear the same shirt as the outfield?;)

Horrible feeling dembele might be out seemed to pick up some sort of injury. Absolutely no idea what we’d do if he was. Personally would drop Eriksen or dele deeper. Just don’t trust winks or sissoko right now and dier/wanyama is too negative.

Is there anyone else who fancies Trippier against costa and isn't concerned at all?

I'm finding the level of apparent confidence quite odd, I must say.
I think a lot of Serge's bashers were unaware that he was always going to lose the debate because he had a thankless task. He had to contain Costa and in doing so it wasn't pretty, which made his play seemed to be rash etc. The same bashers seem to forget how he contained Marcello of Real Madrid, and how he kept Salah quiet playing left back in the 4-1 win over Liverpool at Wembley.

I said it on the day that if Trippier was playing in the first leg against Juventus we would have lost and I stand by that. I too am dreading him against Costa on Wednesday, hope I am wrong. And for the record, its not a debate on who is better, its who is fit for purpose on any given game.

Yup.

Hope he can somehow pull it out the bag and have a stormer.

Discipline and concentration - key.

Pretty shure this will be it, with a question mark on Dier/wanyama.
Son showed great form against huddersfield and was taken of early.
But you never know with Poch, might throw in Lamela in stead.
But an in-form Son might be a secret weapon for us. If hes having an off day sub with Lamela.

Anyone know about Juve squad status? Dybala playing? Hope not, hes great player when hes in form.

Like the look of the line up (except the rose inclusion, still looks very rusty to me) I think it's likely we will play the 5 at the back and hit on the break a la Liverpool at home, Madrid also. Juventus will need to be on the front foot as the only team needing to score, perfect for Maurice's counter attacking method, in which the pace of son and Lucas will be perfect for.

I picked Rose to add a bit more pace in defence and he is usually good when he can be bothered and he usually can be vs big teams. Wouldn't grumble at Davies playing instead in that line up though.

The thing I like about the line up, is it would be good in defence and on the counter but with Dembele and Eriksen in CM, we could also control posession too. It's harsh on Dele & Lamela but I don't think this is a game for either of them with Son as all of them try risky play too often and Son gets the nod for form and ability to get behind at pace.
