Conceded 8 goals in last 13 PL games unbeaten. The fact we haven’t missed him has made his negotiating position almost redundant.

Fuck him if he wants to go.

Badge on the front is bigger than the name on the back.

Just sell abroad, that’s all I ask.

We have beaten Real Madrid, Dortmund, United, Arsenal and Chelsea without him this season. Of course the squad is better with him in it but if we can get £50m for him, that's pretty good business. Some people are saying we shouldn't buy someone to replace him but I disagree. Someone like Tah or De Ligt would be great.

My only issue with buying someone in like that is we might as well sell Foyth as well. He looks to be a real talent and no way will he be happy playing such few games again next season.

Yeah i'm in this camp as well.

If Foyth was playing every week for Ajax I reckon he'd look just as good if not better.

It’s his choice. Class, class player but if he wants out, he goes. Poch not picking him at all tells us all we need to know.

Don’t buy in to the Poch project and it’s curtains.

Abroad, don’t even entertain offers from anyone in England. Simple as that.
Ideal scenario would be Barcelona for £40m or so

Last season there was a big difference in points gained with and without Toby IIRC and that doesn't seem to be case anymore. He probably wants to get his last huge paycheck and I don't blame him, just sell him abroad.

Sanchez vertonghen Dier foyth

Davies in emergency, Ccv progressing well.

Be hard to justify another £40m on a CB to sit on bench.

The issue is if Vertonghen, for example, was out for a sustained period next season we'd be light in terms of experience back there.

We havn't missed Alderweireld but imagine had Vertonghen been injured at some point as well.

I'm sure Poch knows what the plan is going to be though.

I guess we’d have benefit of a more experience Sanchez and would look to him look after a less senior centre back like Foyth or perhaps even Carter-Vickers.

It’s a toughie though as centre back is usually where you like most experience but we don’t want to alienate our young promising ones buying someone and promoting them over them.

Foyth will still only be 20 next season. I’d trust him in lower level PL games but would be wary against top 6 especially in a 2. Tbh Ccv is way more experienced than him and physically stronger. Will be interesting if Toby leaves. I’m really not sure, but if we did buy I think an experienced PL player would be best option like Mawson tawkovsky. I don’t see much point buying another kid we have to blood.

He was interviewed by Roberto Martinez - and while he did not address Toby specifically, Poch made a point of saying players have to prove they are the best at their position to get selected. That implied, to me, that Poch thinks Sanchez is playing better - right now- and he is not inclined to change unless/until Toby shows he is better in training.

I think the world of Poch..however he is biting off his nose to spite his face..we have one of the best defenders in the world & I'm convinced if Toby was playing we would never have conceded 2 in 4mins vs Juve or conceded 1st goal against Chelsea today.. If we don't start playing players what they are worth, we will never win anything.. Alderweireld can't be replaced without making team weaker..pay the man what hes worth..if that's 200g a week for him & Kane do it

Its never that simple. You have to pay Kane, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Dier, Vertonghen, etc.

Spurs and Toby started these contract negotiations over a year ago now - if stories are to be believed, Poch went to bat for Toby and convinced Levy to pay Toby's original demands - only to then see the goalposts moved. I can see why Poch might not appreciate that tactic.

The other reality is that Toby is getting older, and has missed a lot of football due to injury these last couple of seasons. Players generally don't start getting healthier the older they get - 4 year deal for Toby at 180K/week could look much worse than the Ade deal at the end of that contract.

Its always a balancing act.

Assuming Toby goes and at some point Jan gets injured, i really wouldn’t be confident fielding a defence of Sanchez and Dier for any prelonged period of time. Saying that, I don’t see how we bring in someone like Tah. Where would he fit in, ahead of Sanchez or behind? And what happens to Foyth.

If Toby goes we will be weaker, Sanchez is incredible for his age and will be one of the best in the world, but he is not at Toby’s level and won’t be for some time. And I think playing alongside Jan helps him massively.
Problem is this sounds like a done deal! Jan is gone like walker last year. He played for Belgium in the week so he is not injured, and yet Poch doesn’t even put him on the bench! Obviously the contract talks got nasty, just like walker he will be gone in the summer. We don’t do ransom demands and that is just the way Levy is. Don’t expect to see Toby in a Spurs shirt again!

problem is we don’t have the money for all of them, that’s why we made an example with walker! If we pay Toby, Rose will want more, Lamela, basically any of the team who has a contract renewal. And we are not City, we just can’t pay them all. So we do what we can with the players who will stay. Maybe after a few years in the new stadium, but at the moment we just can’t complete wages wise with the big boys! And if they come calling we will loose players. It happens with walker last year, it is happening with Toby now. I just hope we can hang on to Kane, Dele and Eriksen, but it won’t be easy!! Champions league football and the new stadium will help but it ain’t everything, these players want it all, they want the wages, the cups, and the titles, and we just ain’t at that level yet. I think this is a new era in football and working your way slowly to the top is not the name of the game anymore. You have to do it all now in the millennium society, so teams with big owners and deep pockets are the only ones who can. Sadly it’s the reality of the game! You can get lucky with a one off, Leicester showed that, but as we have seen it’s not sustainable, the big boys came and picked of the players they wanted and left Leicester back as a mid table team.
