did poch really have issues with onomah's application and maturity though? he had him with the first team squad for a long time and made 30 odd appearances, i don't think he'd have been afforded that time if poch had those issues with him - as shown by how quickly he's moved other players on who were perceived to lack the right application/mentality. i think poch just didn't rate the defensive side(reading of the game, concentration, positioning etc) of onomah's game enough to play him at cm and that's it but he does rate his ability and athleticism so tried to use him elsewhere.

Apparently when Josh came back from the U20 World Cup Pochettino thought he had an attitude, I know that much. It's perception, of course, and who knows whether he did or whether Pochettino perceived it incorrectly.

One story I heard was that Pochettino didn't fancy Josh as anything other than an AM, but Josh was adamant, so Poch said to him to go out on loan and prove that he could be a CM... if that's true it's not gone so well. Villa are stylistically a terrible, terrible fit for Josh in hindsight, and some of their fans think he doesn't try (others see that that's his languid style rather than a lack of effort).

I think the worry with Onomah this season is there hasn’t been any obvious progression. His Villa appearances seem to mirror everything he did in a spurs shirt. Flashes of looking good but never really imposing himself in a game. His languid style doesn’t help people’s opinion of him. And it seems the majority of Villa fans have formed same opinion as spurs fans. I think it’s almost certain a top level CM will come in the summer. Also think with Lamela return to form and Moura around we will see Eriksen playing deeper more and more. It’s gonna be hard enough for winks to get game time let alone Onomah. I can only see another loan or sale I’m afraid. Personally I’d go with loan. As nobody would be surprised if In 2 years Onomah was doing bits.

on a more positive note, stevenage fans seem to absolutely love amos - @WindyCOYS has been doing a good of retweeting (y)

presumably we'll get him a league one loan next season, or maybe even lower-end championship.

Always knew Luke had it in him and so happy to hear he’s playing with the shackles off.

Hey Windy! Just saw that you tweeted about Pierre Hojbjerg, can you write quick summary about him? Would he fit in with our current team?

Amos was at his most hyped as an u16 when he was an AM. I think he was even called up for England u16s at one point but he was moved out of midfield due to competition then made a DM.

Suddenly he is at a club where he is allowed to be more attacking and he is looking good. Great to see. Even our DMs are quality attacking players when given chances in CM, relative to other players.

If that is true I would like to see what Poch is smoking. His most dominant performances have been as a CM at every level.

I saw Luke as an U-16 in the NI Milk Cup tournament. As an AM he outshone Harry Winks who was a year older but then in his first season in the Academy after leaving school, he played as a fullback. Even in that position you could see his eye for a creative pass and he was happy to be getting playing experience. He was out for a lengthy spell with injury and on his return played mostly as a DM where most of his Academy and U-23 opportunities have been. It's great to see him getting a chance in the attacking midfield role and impressing.

This is my assessment of Amos' performances in the 2012 Milk Cup tournament from a blog I wrote at the time:
'Luke Amos (M): A young player with ability – great confidence, always wanting the ball even when playing against older players. Has good vision and passing ability. Worked hard for the team and good combination play in midfield.'

Report in the Sun says that Watford have agreed a fee of over 1.5m to sign Ben Wilmot from Stevenage in whom we have been interested.

Seeing Alexander-Arnold star over the two legs of a Champions League Q/F gives food for thought....

well, marcus is back then. was going to say earlier that we might as well just recall him given they only have four games left and clearly he's not getting a look in. daniel farke citing "personal reasons" as to why he's gone back, which, if we're to read between the lines is probably code for he got hacked off at not playing. i get the whole tough love thing and trying to challenge him but by this point he'd probably just become demoralised if anything. hopefully he can feature in our final u23 games and then have a good tournament in toulon for england's u21s if he gets picked.

CCV started and picked up another clean sheet. But, then Mick McCarthy quit in his post-match presser (he was already leaving this summer), so a bit of a crazy situation there for CCV to deal with to end the season.

Marcus throwing his toys out the pram again ?. How will he cope with pochettino if he makes the first team at spurs , and is on the bench most match days , like Kyle walker peters is .

Surely not getting picked would be "football reasons"?
unless you threw your toys out of the pram for not being selected.

No idea what went on here, and nothing we can do about it now. Being a professional footballer is hard, and there are many ups and downs. Only thing for Marcus and Spurs to do now is move forward and prepare for next season.

here's farke's quotes -

http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...5471433?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=dlvr.it
“He wanted to go back for personal reasons. We are not fighting for promotion or for relegation,” said Farke.

“We spoke with Tottenham and with Marcus and decided this was the best decision for all the parties.

“I don’t want to go into anything further. I just got the feeling he had much improved and he was closer to our first team and got that first appearance against Fulham.

“There were some nice touches but right now with four games to go we accepted this is the way forward.”

sounds pretty amicable, doesn't really benefit anyone for him to go through the motions of staying for the final few weeks if he's not going to play.
