After his frankly brilliant goal at the weekend and his excellent performances for Palace since he got back from injury, I'm wondering if we're still interested in Zaha. There's been consistent links to him and a suggestion that Poch is a fan but I do wonder if that ship has sailed since we bought Lucas?

With Leverkusen winning against Leipzig they move into the Champs league spots, if they were to qualify I couldn’t see Bailey leaving, if they don’t however there may be a chance.
Also when does the window open? I have heard it’s the 13th May, could it be that early?

Rashford would be a perfect signing as the Kane 'backup' because he can play more than one position. He's more than capable as a center forward, but we can also play as one of those players behind Kane, and as a bonus he's HG. It would mean that he would be able to actually play more often than the likes of Janssen and Llorente, both of whom don't have that versatility, meaning that he wouldn't lose touch, or only play sporadically.

Even if it's not Rashford in particular, that's the profile we should be looking at as our primary CF rotation option.

He would get barely any more game time at Spurs compared to United.

Almost...

I've already posted but here you go...

Prem clubs voted for window to close pre season start. On that basis it closes Thursday 9th August, a few days before prem kicks off. This is the last day for incoming, but you can sell upto and including 31st August.

Because window has to be open 12 weeks, opening day of window is brought forward to roughly 17th May. 17/18 season ends 13th May.

Still interested in Zaha. Doing a desk may be more tricky after us talking to him and his camp, then offering derisory. Though we were advised by his team that would be accepted. We have to see, as water not clean in that one. Meaning we would have to repair broken bridges.

That’s an awful lot of change for a window though. I’d be surprised if Poch would want so much potential disruption to the squad. I’m all for ongoing improvement plus betting big with the new stadium/financial envelope but that would be a massive.

We’ve heard the following want to leave:

Vorm, Alderweireld, Rose and Sissoko

Others available:

Trippier, Janssen, Llorente

If we lose all of the above then replacements alone plus 1-2 additions to our central midfield easily comes to 5-7 squad incomings.

Not sure if posted...

The Sun ( yeah I know ) says Watford have won the race to sign Ben Wilmot.

Citing they've offered him a quicker route to 1st team football.

Where the fek does another attacking player fit in?

It’s an interesting one.

A backup for Kane with a player who can only play as a striker doesn’t seem to work.

The backup just doesn’t get enough game time to be match fit when needed.

Son does a decent job up front, so unless we can find an attacking mid who can play up front better than Son I can’t see us buying a striker.

We have Lamela, Son, Eriksen, Alli and Moura playing for 3 attacking mid spots. All these players are relatively in their prime so won’t want to be a complete backup.

So a young player happy to get some minutes seems the only option for attacking mid.

Sessegnon is getting a lot of game time so might not want to become a squad player.

Outside of Edwards stepping up I see little room for a new attacking player unless we sell.

Zaha has played up front this season and I think having a versatile player like him and Son is better than having someone like Llorente so I gusss that would be where he fits in.

Where did you see Trip's being available?

Also I doubt very much Zaha will happen.

I agree with you Trix that Zaha is doubtful, but as you know there is interest. But I again agree with you. There was a possibility of Tripps being considered to go in summer, but that probably has cooled due to his performance etc. KWP, we have an issue. Something has to give, and wouldn’t want to loose KWP.

How does he get any game time when Lucas is struggling for game time as it is?

There isn't any space for him at all - I don't get it, people are wandering when Lucas will get minutes on the pitch and yet there are some who still want to sign more attackers.

Not sure about the Trippier stuff. I don't see him going from first choice to gone regardless of KWP. Not that I have heard anything on the situation but if we were that worried about him and thought he was good enough he'd surely be playing at least some minutes now. If anyone was to go to make room I'd have thought it would have been Aurier, especially with his BFF likely to move on.

Tbh i think we would regret it, if we let KWP go - hope Poch fits him in, with his fullback whisperer skills he could turn him into a beast

I think this would be the best move all round. Aurier and Sissoko moved on quietly.

Noooo, we need Agent Aurier should we require anyone else from PSG, Rabiot maybe

Given we were told in Jan that there was interest in Trippier and that he’s potentially available in the summer and with Hercs adding we will be busy... we’re potentially looking a new No 2, new right and left back, 1 centre back, 1-2 central midfielders, an attacking wide forward and/or striker. 6-7 incomings which when taking into account the rumoured outgoings and need to add some more strength in depth is very plausible.

That many new players with a shortened pre-season because of the WC and our move to the new stadium may require a period of acclimatisation might seriously affect our early season results negatively.
