This is a hard one, I really like Martial and wanted us to sign him before he signed for Man U (Ha, N'Jie). However, I think we're going to find it hard to sign anyone in the forward positions due to all the cover we have. That and the other teams mentioned are also very good options. Atletico Madrid could be losing Griezmann in the summer as well.
We got completely fucked over by all concerned in that situation. I'd like to think those days are behind us now...

Bale is my first choice for this sort of role, but Martial would be a great alternative. Some of his finishing when he actually got a few opportunities earlier this season was sublime.

Kane starts - obviously. But Bailey could be an alternative to Kane if our talisman is injured (or needs a rest) and play a regular role out wide (like Son) when Kane is on the field. It's also possible that Pochettino might use Kane and Bailey together...

Having said all that, I believe that our greatest priority has to be centre midfield. We desperately need an alternative to Dembele. Dembele is terrific but what happens when we gets injured?
Need to forget Bailey. He’ll go to one of the superrich clubs. Wouldn’t be surprised if Bayern try from him - they love to pick up the best Bundesliga players, and need wing successors to Ribery and Robben too.

Nkoudou, llorente, janssen and sissoko out - martial in .. I dont see any problem with 4 players outgoing and only 1 incoming ...

I see a problem having six attacking mids for three places. Lucas can't get a game as it is. Why would Martial leave for lack of game time, only to come to us and have.. a lack of game time.

Almost...

I've already posted but here you go...

Prem clubs voted for window to close pre season start. On that basis it closes Thursday 9th August, a few days before prem kicks off. This is the last day for incoming, but you can sell upto and including 31st August.

Because window has to be open 12 weeks, opening day of window is brought forward to roughly 17th May. 17/18 season ends 13th May.

FA Cup final is 19th May. You'd think the window wouldn't open before the season is over.

You may be right - but I suspect that Spurs will want to make a statement signing (or two) this summer. Bale could be it - but Bailey fits the bill also. Frankly I'd prefer the key signing for us to be in midfield.

Pochettino has a reputation for developing players. Maybe Bailey will consider this when making a decision on his future...

Yeah but this is the third time they have approached us, after the previous two I'm not sure we'd entertain them tbh

Shame really when their asset/player has actually suffered as a result of playing interested parties off of eachother.

I know money talks at the end of the day but unless your player is playing, performing and raising his profile, the money soon stops. Perhaps they'll have a different approach to this move as it seems AM is not happy with where things are. Or could be my own wishful thinking.

To me, we either need another CM or could add an attacking mid and move Eriksen deeper. I would probably prefer bringing in a CM but if we could bring in a talent like Martial or Bale I would happy to let Eriksen move deeper.

I could see us moving to a 4-3-3 similar to what City play, with one holding midfielder and two more creative types ahead of him in CM. Obviously in matches against top clubs we might look to add a bit more steel to central midfield, but for matches against the bus parking teams (which is where we drop most of our points relative to our rivals), something like this would be incredible:

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Vertonghen Davies
Dier/Wanyama
Eriksen Dele
Bale Kane Son
Lamela and Winks would also be adept at playing in the No. 8 role in that formation, IMO. I'm sure we could work Bale into the side, not that I expect us to get him.

@JayB put it rather well... Although we'd be talking about Martial instead of Bale. We are one signing away from that team/squad and, my God, the options.

Who would cost more martial or zaha , much prefer martial who could become world class imo

I’d prefer Zaha tbh. You can see how hungry he is, I think he could really take off next year at the right club, he’s got the right character. Martial always seems like he’s sulking, his body language is poor and I think that translates to his game. He can disappear.

That said I don’t think we’re really desperate for either. I’d rather spend whatever we have on De ligt and at least one cm. kovacic would be a good signing. Full back as well is an area we can improve on imo.

With regards to Aurier;

I hear we have an almost complete set of donuts, but one or 2 has had the cream removed, once donut collection is complete, some donuts will be off

I hear Poch only likes jam so may sway either way

Not too keen on Zaha. Think he'd have a tough time breaking into the team on a regular basis. And isn't Moura similar?

I do agree with the last part of your post - "I’d rather spend whatever we have on De ligt and at least one cm. kovacic would be a good signing. Full back as well is an area we can improve on imo."

Martial primarily a striker .. he can play as an winger too... If llorente, janssen go we certainly need another forward .. martial fits the bill

Conflicting reports it seems. Manchester Evening news has it opening around the 17th May and closing for incomings 17.00 b.s.t August 9th, two days prior to prem kick off.

The Sun and SSN (Bryan Swansan) state that FIFA has declared the window will open June 9th and close for incomings as above.

Confused yet?..

BBC...The early finish will not mean the Premier League's transfer window is shorter as it will start earlier and be 12 weeks long, in line with Fifa rules.

So on the assumption that there are indeed rules stipulating that the window has to be open for 12 weeks for incomings, working backwards from August 9th sees me arrive at May 17th.

Am I right...feck knows now.
