Joshua looked really cautious all the way through, but I like Parker, gutted that the ref was such a killjoy.

Anti climax, but we know AJ can fight better, so i'm not predicting doom against Wilder. It'll be a far more intense fight.

Fury would school Joshua. All hes got is reach and size. Without that his boxing skills arnt great.
Don’t think so. Fury is awkward but hardly some boxing virtuoso. AJ keeps him behind the jab he will struggle. If he gets on the inside, Joshua will do him some damage.

I enjoyed it and paid for it. Did you expect Parker to walk into right handers all night?

Diddnt have any previous knowledge of his fighting style. I tuned in for a knockout and a tear up.

That was the worst I've seen Joshua. Fury would give him all sorts of problems on that performance.
I thought from a pure boxing perspective he was dominant. If the ref was less eager, they would have traded and it would have been a better fight and probably would have ended with a stoppage

In that case, tune in for Whyte / Povetkin

Fury will fight AJ like Parker did, but taller and longer reach. And will win on points.

Joshua did what he needed to do to win. He used his advantages that he had over Parker to full effect, stuck to his gameplan and won the fight.

Ref didn't help Parker at all though.

That depends what Fury we get on his comeback - Honestly Fury didn't even get to defend his titles after taking out Wlad - Prior to the Wlad fight what had Fury done!? For me Fury talks way better than he fights, and he has done far more of the former, than the latter lately...3 fights he said he would have this year. It's now April and he has had zero fights. Steve Cunningham dropped him easily, and he is cruiserweight.

Apart from Wlad, who is really on Fury's resume? Dereck Chisora, and that's it - Get inside Fury and most decent H weights cause him problems, and that's the Fury that beat Wlad, not the overweight, out of shape one that slouches about now. At least Joshua can fight on both the outside and inside.

I doubt we ever see Fury get to a title stage fight again tbh.

The ref was atrocious and actually didn’t help either fighter. Parker seemed happy enough to be split every time he got close and was quite passive, especially for a proud Maori warrior ( what a load of old hillocks all that chat is! )

Joshua did what he had to.

I am one of the few that actually thinks he will beat Wilder easier based on what I see last night. Parker is faster and a lot trickier than Wilder is and Joshua dealt with him comfortably.

To an extent I agree.

Joshua should deal with Wilder better due to fighting technique and stance.

But Wilder has the power and knockout ability to worry Joshua, which Parker doesn’t have.

Joshua could be cautious with Parker and win,he can’t with Wilder.

Just watched the fight through now. As said by many Joshua did what he had to do, didn't take any risks, and got to the end comfortably. I think a win by 8-10 rounds was maybe a little generous, but then he was the more accurate and landed the better punches throughout, and really Parker, beyond showing he is durable, did very little in all truth - charging in head first was basically the tactic which, although it was annoying and broke up any flow to the fight, did force the ref into action a lot.

It wasn't a masterclass by AJ but it was a mature fight, especially when he could easily have started chasing his KO record for instance. However, the way he has been built up and packaged so far that is another fight that takes the wind out of sails a bit - purely looking at it from the casual fan point of view. He's been sold and gained his appeal from banging people out and delivering a scrap. There will be a certain sector that wont be happy.

Yeah I think I agree with that. Thing is when Parker wanted to step it up a gear against Joshua he still wasn't able to do near enough to hurt Joshua. If Wilder decides to really shift it up a few gears, he may potentially be more open than Parker was but I think he'll definitely show more to possibly hurt Joshua.

I thought Parker gave a good account of himself. It was a mature but incredibly boring, negative fight from AJ, though.

Flat footed, never moves his head just technically not great. Just a big lump. Hardly has the footwork of Alli does he

Me and my mates were discussing a hypothetical of Mike Tyson (in his prime) v AJ and I honestly think, though AJ has a good few pounds on him, that Tyson would do him inside 3 rounds, possibly sooner.

So what's this weekend? We've got Khan's comeback against that Italian chap who I've never heard of - isn't there another fight too?
