Harry Kane has scored two goals in the last three league games two of which were away, which equates to around 25 league goals in a season, I put it to you that that is a very good return from a striker.
He has not played well since the injury though.

He took Eriksen's goal nicely, and today got a good poachers goal. He did play better when he dropped back to a #10 role, but still far from the standards we have grown to expect from him.

They'll have to go some to make up an eleven goal difference, if we win two and draw one our goal difference will increase and I can't see any one of the four teams we have to play putting that many past us.
Yeah that's true regarding our opposition. If it was one of the top 6 playing us i'd be more worried about GD. There's also more of a chance of us getting comfortable in one of those games and sticking 4 or 5 away to put the GD discussion to bed.

except it literally has.

Quite literally. We have collapsed at the same point and been caught.

Have you thrown out your Spurs 2016 annual already??
a) That was in a race for 2nd, not 4th. The higher positions are easier to throw away because the side in 3rd is probably going to have better results than the side in 5th.
b) That was against a team in much better form - 9 points from 5 games (including away to us and Everton), rather than only four league wins since the turn of the year.
c) That was with a squad that hadn't been in such a situation before, rather than one that's now had three seasons doing this well.
d) That was with 2 home games and 2 away left to play, rather than 3 at home and 1 away
e) That was with us having to go away to Chelsea, and play at home to Southampton who finished only three points away from a Champions League spot, rather than not having to play a single team in the European places.

And even then it took the worse set of results we've seen since Poch got to grips with the squad in his second season. The past is not predictive of the future, and in any case the situation now is even better than it was then.

I'm pretty sure we'll qualify for the Champions League.

3 wins confirms it but given Chelsea and Liverpool play each other, really we only need two imo as one if not both of them will drop points in that game and our GD is better than Chelsea by some way.

Leicester, Newcastle and Watford at home.

All three teams are more or less done for the season. Safe but nothing else to play for. Leicester because of the animosity between us might give it a full effort but the other two I expect will have one eye on the beach.

Y

It still doesn't mean that I can't be disappointed or say that a performance wasn't good enough tonight and we should expect more.

Tell me, are you pleased with a point tonight?

I'm disappointed. The perfomance wasn't good enough and we should expect more. And I'm gutted we only got a point.

But I don't think our players are fuckwits, I don't think Kane is savign himself for the World Cup, I still believe we have a very good chance of beating United and even winning the FA Cup (though we will face talented opposition).

And I believe we've had a very good season and our team deserve our faith and support despite this one poor result.

It's that simple really.

I think the club have made a real error of jugdement appealing that goal. Sent a terrible message to the rest of the team, Kane's golden boot being above everything else. Made a laughing stock of us too. Even Roma's official site had a chuckle at our expense. He is definitely good enough to fight without such tricks.

We need three wins and a draw to finish 4th, IF Chelsea win out.

Watford H
West Brom A
Newcastle H
Leicester H

Assuming Chelsea win at Burnley, if we cant win three and draw one from that lot then we certainly do not deserve to get CL footie next season.

Chelsea have:

Burnely A
Swansea A
Liverpool H
Huddersfield H
Newcastle A
Nope. If Chelsea win out they finish on 75, meaning we need 2 wins and 1 draw to finish level on points and nearly certainly ahead of them on goal difference, or 2 wins and 2 draws if they somehow start winning all their matches by three goals. This all assuming they win more league matches in the next month than they have since the start of January, including against a very good Liverpool team, a Burnley side in amazing form, and Newcastle looking rather good right now too.

They'll win.

But hopefully Liverpool do them.

Wouldn’t rely on that. Liverpool will no doubt beat Roma a few days earlier and their focus will be on the final. Chelsea will have more to play for than them. If Burnley dont take points from Chelsea on Thursday then I can see them winning all their remaining games. We have to just pick up the 7 points we need then it becomes irrelevant.

Some of the comments here are embarrassing.

Every team has a lethargic performance - it happens to every team.

We have four winnable fixtures and a FA cup semi to look forward to ffs.

Go to bed you pussies

Like when he scored a free-kick against Juventus in CL or scored a wonder goal against Chelsea?

Every single Spurs player played under par tonight. I don't see the point in single out Eriksen, especially as he's been utterly world class for us this season and saved our asses more times than I can count.

You're being unfair on Vorm, Trippier, Foyth and Dier, they didnt put a foot wrong. ;)
Actually Llorente didnt get chance to do anything wrong either.

PS Toby showed what we have been missing.

Lists are nice.

Still, point stands, a 5 point gap with 4 to play is anything but unassailable. 2 bad games is all , a dodgy sending off here, a penalty there , and all of a sudden...

I stand by my assertion that we shouldnt be resting players

Say all you want but a 5 point lead with 4 to play is a dodgy sending off/a bad performance /an Aurier start away from potential disaster.

Lets hope Burnley do us a favour and we don't get punished by picking an inexplicably weak side tonight.

It's not a 5 point lead with 4 to play unless Chelsea beat Burnley. Right now it's an 8 point lead, we have four to play and they have five, plus a much better GD and an easier run-in.
