If Pochettino has wanted him for 3 years and we are potential paying 50/60m and 120k+ a week for him he’s not coming here to be sons backup
Son won't be here at the start of the season - will provide good competition when he returns though...can only help the squad to have that kind of quality ready on the bench, or to rotate in.

This is how you build a real squad, buying players that are as good if not better than the players we already have, not buying “backup players” as we have been

I think he's great, I just don't think he's that good at close control dribbling. Of course he's not Sissoko, but I find him very similar to Son in style.
Not like son at all in regards to dribbling. Son uses more pace and directness whereas Martial will just glide by or by using some form of skill and make you look a tool. If I wanted a dribbled it would be Martial if I wanted goals it would be Son

Jose also doesn't care cause he sees Toby as an immediate upgrade vs Martial as a long term one and he won't be around long term to see the repercussions of it.

I genuinely believe Martial might be what we need to push on. His unpredictability with the ball at his feet, his pace, and his massive goal threat might be what we need to get over the line and win something

Not read through the thread but I assume this has been spoken about a bit....

Kane, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lamela, Lucas and Llorente - they are our current attacking players fighting for 3 or 4 places. If we buy Martial, which the latest ITK suggests we’re really going for, who would be sold? Obviously Llorente will go but that still leaves 7 players in 3/4 positions. It looks like it would have to be Lamela - I know he has some critics but I really like him. I’d hate it if he left. And ideally we need a proper Kane back up no? Son isn’t as effective there as he is on the left but it’ll prob be him.

We’re gonna have a great squad if none of those are sold, that’s for sure.

With Lamela you have a player who has had so many injury issues I'm not sure he'd kick up a fuss with limited football, at least for one season. Poch and his team mates love him so can see us hanging on for another season.

Looking more like we'll replace Dembele with a start worthy CM but may also expect to use eriksen deeper on occasion. If we really are going balls deep on all fronts next year I think we could make it work with Martial only replacing Llorente.

I’m genuinely amazed so many people are so meh on this signing. He’d be one of the most exciting signings I remember us making. European golden boy in 2015 ahead of Alli and Coman, which shows how highly rated he was. They spent whatever the fuck the fee was on a 19-year-old, a record fee and absolutely crazy money at the time.

He just has absolutely everything to his game you could want from an attacker. Pace, ball control, dribbling, chance creation, assists, goals. His link-up play in and around the box is so impressive even in a stifling Jose setup. Can play on the wing and in the centre. And according to Herc, has spoken to Poch and wants a move to Spurs.

I don’t think people realise quite how much potential this kid has. My United fan mates are furious he’s being let go.

For me, it's a question of attitude/desire (could be completely wrong here but I'm sure there's been rumblings of a questionable attitude somewhere although I would presume the club have done their research on this) and the fact that some people (me included) would prefer the instant impact of Bale and aren't crazy/optimistic enough to think we can get both.
Not saying your points aren't all valid, just answering why some aren't as keen as once would have been. Obviously delighted to be proved wrong if he does come in, just personally I'd prefer to see Bale back who I think is a one off superstar who drags his side to higher levels (although I think who Poch would prefer is slightly more relevant).
Maybe it's a hangover from the fa cup semi defeat when we were struggling to get back in the game and I asked myself who do I wish we had now to save the day ... we need some experience to go along with the talent & a proven match winner.

Mate, I really don't think you need to worry too / so much about whether the problem is Martial or Mourinho.

Rashford burst onto the scene under Fergie, scored for fun, called up for his country & did the same. Had assists, link up play, finishing, speed & strength. Now he's broken & doesn't look comparable to that exciting kid Fergie gave a debut to just a couple of years ago. Mourinho broke him.

Martial, Already described quite fucking superbly by @Luka Van der Bale .. Now look at him. Slumped shoulders, no fire. Mourinho broke him.

Sanchez - Ex Gooner or not, while he was playing for that shower from down the road, he was unquestionably one of the most exciting players in the PL, if not Europe & beyond. Had it all, speed, skill, tenacity, finishing. Singlehandedly winning matches. Now look at him. Going through the motions, seemingly lost in his surroundings & pretty much just floating through games (unless he's at Wembley, what's that all about? Weird!). Mourinho broke him.

Pogba - They paid that sum and he had all the previous reviews and praise for a reason. The lad is one of the biggest talents in world football & his performances in Italy proved that. Another player who had the ability to do what others couldn't, skill, strength, pace. And he used them! Now look at him, a shadow, out of sync, moody (I accept he's always had a dodgy temper). Mourinho broke him.

If I could be arsed I could probably keep going, but hopefully my point is made. I can't stand the moody ****. Mourinho is, in my opinion, an egotistical, jumped up **** with an unbelievable ability to suffer delusions of grandeur beyond anything or anyone I've seen in football before. Mourinho is literally anti-football.

Hope that's put your mind at ease a little at least (y) COYS
Just being pedantic but Rashford was under Van Gaal, not Fergie.

Anyone creep on ManU boards and see if they have any ITK on the situation?

I had a brief look, I didn’t spot any itk news. The majority can’t believe Mourinho is being allowed to sell him though.

On another note, what a bunch of self entitled plastics they have on ‘that’ forum. I can’t believe that there is around 4 resident Spurs fans on there, they must be as crazy as the rest of them.
